Re: Emerson LC320EM2 back lights on but no picture

I received my LVDS cable in the mail today. I installed it and the TV now works.

I paid $20 for the TV plus $14 for a replacement main board (since I shorted the original) and $8 for the LVDS cable.
Total invested $42 which is allot for a lower end 32' TV but worth it to me for the experience and fun of tinkering.

thank you very much everyone for all your help

congrats, I would consider it a win! Make sure you have it on a good surge protector the power supply on these is notorious for dieing during surges.

I found this thread so just joined the forum as I'm having same symptoms with the backlight and sound working but no picture - just some faint vertical lines. I checked the LVDT cable continuity and all wires tested good. I've not tested any voltages, etc. yet but thinking its the T-Con board from this discussion. Is there a quick test to verify? My unit looks exactly like the pics in this thread

Probably your best bet is to check the tcon fuse for continuity and voltage. Do you have sound when you hook up a source? If so I would agree that it is likely the tcon.

thanks for your feedback, Caleb. Yes I have sound when connected to source, just no pic and some faint vertical lines. I can only find one fuse and it is on the main power supply board - it has continuity so seems fine.
This tcon board is connected to screen by several thin ribbon conductors adhered to the board without plug connectors, so I assume not really replaceable? If so, I assume this one is a lost cause?

            Thanks again for any feedback

There is SMD fuse on the T-CON board that you need to find out if it has DCV at both ends of the fuse with ref. to the chassis.

found a pic of the tcon and have put a red box around the fuse, although on this board it appears they have it labeled as and inductor.

Re: Emerson LC320EM2 back lights on but no picture

Thanks tons to both budm & Caleb for your guidance. However, my t-con board appears identical to the one in Gorrillasnot's photos so does not appear easily worked on (see my photo attached)
I am currently leaning towards salvaging the other boards and speakers to sell off - thoughts?

even though the pic you posted isnt very clear it does appear that there is a fuse just to the left of the main connector under that gold rectangle. the power board on these should sell pretty quick as they are the most common failure
