This should be an FET on aluminium heatsink, right? and maybe burned transformer down?
BTW, this was unsoldered in service, not by owner.

Things don't unsolder themselves while working... if that transformer is bad pretty much guaranteed you won't find a replacement. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

What about this, owner says that there is only backlight when TV is connected to power outlet(not turned on!), remote controller doesn't do anything, he was in service and been told that mainboard needs replacemet (some chip on motherboard)

I need a TV for my room, so which idea is better?

You seem to have already convinced yourself, so why are you asking? It looks too expensive and tricky to repair IMO.
I -never- take people's word for it when they say "it just needs a chip/capacitor/diode" etc..Last edited by tom66; 01-16-2014, 12:08 PM.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Maybe mainboard isn't the problem, technician is.

Re: Broken Philips 26PF9956/12, worth buying?
You could do that, as long as it doesn't require more than 12V. Some TVs particularly ones above about 19" use 24V inverters. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!
