    Vizio E470VL Orange Light/No Power

Hey another post about a Vizio Orange Light sorry, I tried to do my on research and fix the problem but no luck so I'm in need on some advice.

I have a E470VL that wont power out of Standby, when i press power button no voltage change anywhere. i do get a small drop in voltage from the power button itself. Here are some of the Voltage i recorded so far.

If you are lucky and someone is working on the same set they may be able to help. Otherwise I dont know. The numbers for the voltage regulators dont men much without the description (part number) You could then look up the datasheet if required and see what output should be.
For example UF might be ok if its meant to be 1.2 or 1.25 but not if its meant to be 2.5.
Have you found these boards on the forum how do the readings compare.
Fuses - is that the volatage at both ends ie not blown
Picture of the main board is not really clear enough for troubleshooting. Power supply is better but we need pictures of the back of both boards.

Do you have any history of the set - power surge- gradual fail or just didnt come on on day.

Just flicked through a few posts if VRs are ok likely to be a main board fault or eeprom.

Just to check - when you did the voltage test at the connector you had meter on VDC and
had the connector to the main board plugged in?

Got the TV from a friends garage dont know what happen to it, usually the TVs I get have bad capacitor and its a easy fix. But this TV didnt have any visual blown capacitors.

When i jumped +5V with Standby on CN1, I'm was able to get a 12V voltage from: F2 = 12.23. So i thought the PS was good, so through my research I came up with the U8(MC780CT) being the problem, because it wasnt getting the correct voltage of 5v or 3.3v. So i order a new one install it and was still getting same voltage i was getting from the old MC780CT.

Will post better pictures asap, my phone isnt taking clear enough pictures.

This could be a corrupt eeprom, which is common problem for this type of main-board. If all of your voltage regulators reading check out to be good, than I will move on to replacing the eeprom chip.

these are pre programmed so should just be a matter of soldering in if that is the problem.

Does anyone have the same board that works? i want to get voltage from the MC78050CT(U8) in standby mode to compare.. or will the Eeprom make the voltage be wrong?

                      ive seen people post:

                      U8
                      Pin 1 - 12.3
                      Pin 2 - 0.0
                      Pin 3 - 5.0

                      I only get:

                      U8
                      1. 0.37
                      2. 0

That is fine -- no input voltage (or less than 2V) means no output voltage. TV main board never sending PS ON signal so the input voltage isn't switching on.

That fuse for the 12V line feed that 7805 5V regulator if my memory is correct.
In standby you will not have any 12V on it, but when you force on the power supply, then you will have the 12V in and 5v at the out put, as Tom has indicated, the main board is not sending the PS_ON even though it has 5V to run it.

                                  Likely cause is EEPROM fault.

ok, any chance it could be the capacitor that selldoor stated?

No idea myself; worth a shot, though 90% of Vizio problems nowadays appear to be these EEPROM/Flash chips failing (it's probably a flash chip in your instance but the names are used interchangeably by some.) It is apparently a software bug or botched over-the-air update corrupting these chips.
