I've seen a few small screen sets with duff backlights. I'm pretty sure it's dry connections . I've just changed c230/231 5pf 6kv caps it appears to be fine. I wish I'd examined them under a magnifying glass for dry joints before I removed the old ones as I can't see anything wrong with them. Unless they are breaking down under load might be worth a check/replace just in case.

Funny you should say that cos ive noticed those two caps have been changed
b4 by someone, the soldering is not the best. I will reflow them now see if it fixes it or see if maplin got any tomorrow.Comment

Hi just thought I would let you know that I repaired one of these recently.
It had the backlight problem. I replaced the two 3kv caps shown here

cpc.farnell.com have free delivery from £0.01 and stock Panasonic capacitors.

When cpc dont have the offer there is also rs components in pontypridd.
and various other places round the uk. Also I mention because I think it has been there forever and I like the name Cricklewood electronics. In Cricklewood
but post is reasonable IF they have what you need - not great stock or maybe just hard to find.Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

This happened last Saturday and today I finally had time this morning before I went to work to replace two non brand capacitors
I will let you be the judge weather or not these are bad or not according to the blue ESR meter that I am using
I am comparing them to a brand new one that I installed
The display came back on and the programming was not lost which I was surprised by I would have thought that when the display went blank that so did the memory as well
I going to let it run for several days before I remount back on the wall next to the... -

Problem
This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached.... -

A yellow light was flashing on my monitor. It was like it was constantly cutting power. When I opened it up, I saw that the big capacitor in the high voltage line was leaking. I replaced it. When I turned it on for the first time, it had the same problem again. But then, interestingly, it got better. The yellow light was on steady. But the monitor wouldn't turn on. When I examined them with a thermal camera, I saw that the Fli5961-LF reached 50 degrees Celsius and the EM636165TS next to it reached 100 degrees Celsius and was drawing high current on the motherboard....11-13-2024, 07:00 AM -

I have this HP laptop, board: DA0G3DMBCE0 rev:E
The keyboard light only work, when i connect ac power supply(without battery), until the screen come with cmos checksum error. After this point light can't switch on. The first 5-6 seconds i can switch on/off light with FN+F4. When booing on, i can't switch on.
Keyb light controller Y59116, i think working, because receive i2c commands the firsr 5 seconds
I know schematic doesn't exist for this board
Someone know similar board, that use this rgb keyboard light controller?
