I just got this Vizio E550VL and took the back off...It has a Master 1 and 2 backlight inverter board on one side and the other side has Slave 1 and 2...The cable that connects between them is burnt bad....The TV itself does turn on but No picture or backlight...Im not sure on sound....Is this repairable or do I have to buy all new backlight boards master and slave?

But first thing is to find that cause so you dont run into the same issue after board and cable replacements.
I will update this post shortly to try and help
*EDIT* Just realised that its both master and slaves that are fried so thats 4 boards!.... Can you get a picture of all boards in place and connected so I can see the layoutLast edited by newtothis; 11-16-2013, 10:38 AM.Comment

Re: VIZIO E550VL Obvious Damage Need help
This is a common problem. Same setup as Toshiba models 55G300U and 55G310U. I've fixed a few. You'll most likely need the jumper plus both boards on the burnt side (master1, master2) or (slave1, slave2). I did have one that needed all 4 so keep that in mind as well. These boards seem to have bad connections from the factory that result in arcing and that burnout symptom.Comment

Re: VIZIO E550VL Obvious Damage Need help
Basically the connectors don't make good contact leading to high temperatures in the connector. Just replacing the jumpers or creating new connections will solve the issue. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: VIZIO E550VL Obvious Damage Need help
Check for shorts on slave inverter or bad bulbs associated with that card. Digikey should have the connectors. A customers set should be fixed correctly without jumping the connectors out. Libelity reasons. I agree that it could ne bad connections or it may be a high current draw on the slave side of the inverters board or bulbsComment

Re: VIZIO E550VL Obvious Damage Need help
Oh Yea! If replacement of connectors, you must remove the carbon or bad section of the boards. Carbon will conduct electricity and it could burn again possibly causing a fire. How expensive are the two boards? You probably will not get wire jumper cable with cards and you would need to make a new one.Comment

Re: VIZIO E550VL Obvious Damage Need help
Wow thanks for all the replys!!! I have indeed made some temporary jumpers for now and TV has not changed...the 4 boards are like $31 a piece and for some reason that jumper which I need 2 of are $29..So I will check digikey as the other prices are from ebay.I cant replace just the jumpers because the actual plastic is burnt and brittle so it basically falls apart. If anyone knows the part # for that jumper on digikey that would help a lot.The Slave boards did take most of the burn so my main problem must be there I would think.Comment

Re: VIZIO E550VL Obvious Damage Need help
Here are the pics of the boards in place with the jumpers I made.
Something obviously fried those wires and just replacing the wires wont help at all, Need to find the cause of it first... another obvious is that if the wires are burnt out then their was too much voltage flowing into the cable... the voltage came from the source and obviously made its way over to the secondary board.... So at least 2 boards are fried here... I would be replacing the boards rather than repairing as their could be endless faults there!
But first thing is to find that cause so you dont run into the same issue after board and cable replacements.

There are two fuses on the Master inverter, two fuses on the Slave inverter.

Re: VIZIO E550VL Obvious Damage Need help
Hello everyone,
I just bought a Vizio E550VL last night from a person on Craigslist. I checked it out before I bought it, and it worked fine for several hours last night. This morning I turned it on and it would flicker rapidly, even on the initial Vizio logo screen before it displayed my source. I left it on for awhile, and it turned itself off. Now it turns on, flickers briefly, and turns back off.
I opened it up and I have a very similar problem to what SCUBE reported above: The Slave 1 and Slave 2 boards are fried at the connector. It's worse than Scuba's, but definitely all around the area of the connector between the two boards. The master boards don't appear do be damaged, and all the capacitors look ok.
Any suggestions on how to repair it? Should I just replace the two boards and the connector? I'm not sure how to test the voltages. I don't want to replace the boards just to find out that something else is wrong and fry them, too.
Thanks for any insight!

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by chinhang899Hey everyone!
My KORG iS50 has a volume issue where the internal speakers are only acceptable above ~50% on the master slider. What's worse is that the headphone (phones out) and line outputs are extremely quiet, even at max volume. Both left and right channels are equally affected.
Here's what I've checked:
Voltages: Vcc to DAC section measures ~5V, MUSB (mute pin on the DAC) measures ~4.xxv, and the 2 op-amps show ~9V
Master Volume Slider: Resistance ranges from single-digit Ω to ~11kΩ (seems functional).

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.
Where is the short?

by howardc64Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.
It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot.... - Loading...
