Sony Bravia XBR KDL-52XBR6 - Bad Panel?

I'm thinking this is a bad panel. Just want to be sure before I scrap it out.

It looks more like bad video processor, possibly FRC fault. I would not immediately call bad panel, but the single pixel vertical line on the right is worrying me. Is that always there?

Yes. It's always there. Tried different inputs as well. It's a shame, cuz it's in really good shape.

The line might be a panel issue... but the other colour issues I don't think are.

Try a new t-con board. This looks exactly like a 47 inch version sony I just repaired. But agreed with tom66. I dont thinknthat pixel line will go away but 99% of the screen problem will
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Ok. I'm thinking I have another 52 inch sony from a while back. I'll see if its an XBR6. I'm thinking its an XBR5 though.

Sorry to bring back a zombie thread...don't seem to be able to post a new thread to this area for some reason, even though I've had a badcaps login for years and years!

Anyway, a couple of days back I saw the Geek Squad guy at the Best Buy next door start putting detritus from his installs into the dumpster, including a LCD TV (which he obligingly left by the side of it). Once he'd vacated the area, I went to take a look only to find a rather nice looking 40" Sony XBR6. I knew there was a good chance of something being wrong with it (I mean, who would throw out a perfectly good TV?), but I decided to drag it back over to my office and take a look. Turning it on, I found what I thought at first glance might be a bad T-con board, but after doing some research over the weekend I now think it might be at least one bad tab bond (though applying pressure to the top of the surround does nothing to change the presented image).

I find myself left at a bit of a crossroads with it. I could tear it apart and try the temporary tab bond fix you can find pretty readily via Google. But I don't know how long a fix like that might last, so I'd be disinclined to sell it on to someone, and I don't really need another TV of any description for our place. Or I could strip it and sell the parts on eBay - a good T-con board for these could bring $100 all by itself! Then maybe $40 for the stand; $25-30 for the power supply board; $60-70 for the video board, etc... I could end up getting some pretty good money out of it.

What do you guys think? Do you think I'm on the money with the tab bond prognosis? In many ways that would be better than a bad t-con board, since those appear to be hard to come by and quite expensive when one does happen to find one.

Looks like a tab bond issue. The bezel and panel surround have to be removed to put pressure on the tabs. Wish I could buy your T-Con board though.

Bad Panel in Sony Bravia X850G
                  by guidodroid
                  Hello all,
I'm trying to understand what is the issue with my 26 months old Sony Bravia KD-65XG8505 (XBR65X850G).
It is just few months out of warranty, so Sony doesn't want to do anything, and the local replacement shop also tells me that it's not worth repairing (alhtough this model costed almost 1000 euros just 2 years ago...).

Few nights ago the TV started showing some horizontal lines and distorted colors/geometries in the bottom part of the screen (see attached photos).
The issue is not as bad as others that I've seen around, but is indeed noticeable...

                  Sony Bravia 75X850C panel

After changing out the backlights I have a single green vertical line on the left side of the screen. Is there any way to fix it? I tried putting pressure on all the tabs and on the top of the panel but neither helped.
Does Sony epoxy all their panels or just the expensive ones?

Sony KD-70X690E Bravia; Bad TCON? Bad panel?
                  by swrb898
What's wrong with my TV: the TCON, the panel, or something else? I'm stuck.

                  Problem:

Last week, my Sony KD-70X690E 70" stopped displaying a picture. The TV powers on, and the back lights power on. However, the TV doesn't seem to boot up. I say this because the SONY splash-screen logo does not display, nor does any picture display, nor can I invoke a menu by pressing "Menu" on the remote. Other than back-light bleed, the screen is black.

My troubleshooting got me this far:

With the left-hand TCON to bottom-board ribbon cable...

Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on
                  by PopsCaps
I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on. The indicator flashes red 3 times.
I do not hear any sound and I cannot see any backlight.
I have tried disconnecting every cable on each board one at a time to see if anything changes.
The only change is when I disconnect AC-DET cable on the Power Supply board or on the other end if I unplug the CN7009 connection on the B-Board and try to power on the TV the indicator will stay on solid green until I power off.
My friend ordered another used power supply board but it is also doing the red indicator flash 3 times...

spec wise the panels are the same. the drivers and tcons are obviously different but what made me want to give this a try is that the wiring diagrams for the data signals going into the tcon for each tv were nearly identical. there are only a couple pins that i am unsure about and that is what brings me here.

the 930d has the DPS board where the 900h has none, however, if you follow the pins to the BM1 it would appear that the signals...
