    Panasonic TC-P42S2

Hi all been some time since i needed some help been doing pretty good on my own however this set has me miffed atm. OK to get started on the issue with this set it started out as no power on nothing no signs of life no response from power button, so i ordered A board and now i get power on and the panel indeed energizes no menu or a picture it seems to go to service mode but you can't see it on panel i would have to unplug tv to get it to get out of service mode.

have both the service manual and troubleshooting manual for this set i think the problem is still in A board, could not find exact replacement for TNPH0831 (1) [A]

so i ended up with TNPH0831(3)[A] as closest replacement and it is a panasonic re-certified replacement A board... any light on this would be great since i am stuck atm.....

also according to the owner it has some sort of surge however i am finding out these sets have a lot of A board issues and the a board is very pricey want to go more in depth before i send this A board back .

    any ideas bump?

no burns no bad caps i believe everything else is fine, no shorts that i can find, will post pic's but don't think it is necessary since manuals are prevalent for this set, however i still have a bit to learn about schematics, and this set is probably the most tricky to figure out......

service manual and training manual... and panel sticker says nothing of vs and va voltages and no labels on any connectors so yeah its fun, but some help with schematic translation would be awesome......

A glowing panel with no image is often a sign of a bad A board, especially if only the service menu works.

I think there's more to the revision of the main board than what you've posted. You can have identical board assemblies but different config and parts used on it depending on the model.

Was the board you replaced from a 42" model?

well to be more descriptive it seems to be able to go into service mode however it does not show on screen it just unable to do anything once in service mode have to unplug it and plug her back in to get power button to work again....

well according to the listing it is for a 42 inch Panasonic compatible with certain models this one being one of them, however i think you may be correct i may have a board that is not compatible, finding the exact board same revision i just have no luck finding.... the 2 boards look identical except a connector it does not use and its revision new one is revision 3 and original is rev 1 now i suppose there may be a secret way to change firmware however can't see nothing on screen to do it lol.. looks like i may need to send this bad boy back eh?

I had a look at SJ website and there are a lot of different versions of TNPH0831. I don't believe the 2 or 3 is what to look for. There is a suffix template on the board and the rev is determined by the placement of a series of jumpers.

If you post up some hi res shots of both boards it may reveal some clues of what you've got or check out SJ.

From what I can make out , neither had the jumpers there and that would make it no suffix which SJ had listed for your model which was the picture I posted from their site. I don't have any more clues at this stage.

well that sucks... further more shop jimmy is out of stock and i am avoiding ebay get nothing but garbage from there seems like and i paid way too mch for this board that is a very expensive paperweight, could i be have another issue other then main board ? is was a surge that took it out, and this is the listing of the "new" A board which is clearly refurbished by Panasonic according to the box it came in here is listing for that http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=1119421679017 so looks like i burnt on this one i am out of ideas myself.....

The only 2 thoughts I'm having are either the A-board is suspect again or as you said it was hit by a surge so that obviously reached the A board so could have travelled also to either the C buffer boards or SC20 at the SC board via the ribbon cables .

what is interesting is the fact you described what sounds like a TV that started normally with a panel that is energised but no image.

I have created this very scenario working on my Sc boards but I had sound because the TV had been tuned and it was a working Tv that I was using to test my boards so made it obvious what board caused it.

Anyway, I was messing with one of the tiny octal buffer ICs marking C541 which was faulty. I was using scavanged parts but one gave me SOS7, next one everything was normal except I only had a grey primed panel but no image.

Once I got a good chip in there it was back to working.

                            It's a possibilty?

just picked one of these up when I got it; it had 6 blink code, opened up found SC board power & ribbon off, reconnected then got a 7 blink code...
Began to disconnect finally got unit to power up w/ no image w/ the SC to A-board ribbon off and the lower buffer ribbon off...
I'm leaning towards bad A-board but could it be a lower buffer & SC board set both bad..? I dont know how to confirm, downloading manuals now too; thanks for those btw...

will be most likely shorted TNPA5105AD SC board and or SD/SU boards. check resistance across sc2 and also find Q661 on the SC and see if that's shorted

                                        Hello, New Here
Have 2010 Panasonic TC-P42S2 plasma with the 10 blinking lights. Cannot bring up a menu from the TV or HD digital cable box. When first turning the set on it clicks like normal and then after a few seconds clicks again. Black screen with blinking power light.

Took off back panel and disconnected the board on the left side. Turned the power on and now have 6 blinking lights. This suggests the SC board is bad. Is there a chance it could be the SS board and how do i test to see if the board is malfunctioning?

                                        Thanks for you assistance,
                                        K

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock

I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Assuming...

Recently I've gotten into EC flashing due to my broken laptop(s) and started frantically searching methods for flashing the IT5571E-128 chip on the cheap(due to me beaing a student and not having a job) and noticed that ITE newer chips can be flashed via ISP (In-System Programming) either via SMBus or the KBC (EPP - Enhanced Parallel Port) interface. While these can be achieved with programmers like SVOD4/3 or the RT809H/F those options are WAYYY out of my budget so I was horrified. But recently I stumbled uppon some programmers on aliexpress that claim they can program a variety of ITE chips...

i have a 2020 macbook pro 13" A2251 with 820-09149 logic board so i found an issue with chip labeled U6903 according to schem. boardview using flexBV software, so i removed it from the board and the issue im having is that the chip says "07A08FI ELC180" on top of it but when searching for a replacement chip, i can find tons of identical looking chips that also have "ELC180" printed on them but the first set of digits is never the same so im trying to find out if i need this exact chip with these same numbers as mine and if not which ones are compatible as a replacement?...

                                          by Cvrado
                                          Hello my friends!
I have a question that I think you can answer and help me with!

I have a faulty main board from an led TV. And I found the same part number board and design but is from a 43" TV and I want to use it on a 65". On its stickers , all are the same except the wattage for the LEDs backlight, both state different watts and LED Voltages!

So I presume that the backlight inverter section from the replacement board has lower wattage then the original one, am I right?

My concern is that the board won't draw enough voltage to the bac...
