I found some SM which is not from this model but it said the code 062598 + Home + 016 should be entered from a normal RC remote. The original tv remote is both IR and bluetooth. Even though I disabled the bluetooth i tried today with a remote which is IR only again without success....Leave a comment:

Philips 65PUS8518/12 distorted image after main board replacement
hello everyone,
I don't normally do tv repairs but this is a case with my personal TV which got fried together with many other electronics in my house after a thunderstorm.
The TV is a Philips 65PUS8518/12 which had no power. I measured and concluded that the main board was probably fried through ethernet or hdmi. I found a board with same number 715GD328-M0F-B00-005Y (I had G) but from a 55PUS8518. The TV starts but the image is doubled, distorted. I need to set the panel code which is 016 according to the sticker on the back but I can not seem to do it.

Re: Philips 47PFL4606H/12 flickering issue/strobo effect
The one i found was from a smaller TV. The last letter from the part number was different. E instead of U. It was almost identical but i had to desolder and replace the canle from the Power supply to the board because it was too short. I actually did this 3 days ago, because it took me few months to find a board. Eventually i bought one with 35 euro shipping included and works like a charm. I suspect there was something wrong around or with the invertor. Good luck!Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 47PFL4606H/12 flickering issue/strobo effect
I have removed the pwm pin2 wire setting the backlight level at 100%. I used the tv like this all summer (only in the weekends) without any issues or flicker. Now it takes a very long time for the backlight to turn on. This happened suddenly and the time seems to increase more and more. At first i had to wait about 5 min, then even over 30 min. Once the backlight is on, everything works good even if i leave the TV on for days. The pwm wire is removed so no flicker. I am trying to search for a replacement power supply but i...Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 47PFL4606H/12 flickering issue/strobo effect
But the pwm voltage is coming from the motherboard towards the PSU, right? So it can’t be that both the motherboards have the same fault. Or is the voltage going ghe other way around? I did not measure it after removing the wireLeave a comment:

Unfortunately I do not have an oscilloscope...
But the pwm voltage is coming from the motherboard, right? It is doing the same with both motherboards i have
What do you think of the buzzing sound that was coming from the inverter? Can this affect the issue somehow? That sound was there ever since i bought the tv. It is completely gone after removing the wire.Last edited by tuner2000i; 06-14-2018, 04:30 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 47PFL4606H/12 flickering issue/strobo effect
the backlight is ON. as service manual states, 0V on pin 2 means backlight intensity is 100% , for minimum 3,3V is required. no wire = 100% intensity
The tv works as normal, no flicker at all, no buzzing sound from the inverter.Last edited by tuner2000i; 06-13-2018, 06:40 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 47PFL4606H/12 flickering issue/strobo effect
so as a resume:
1. the flicker only appears after the tv boots up ( and probably the motherboard starts supplying voltage on PWM pin ) and disappears after about 30 min of turned on
2. there is a constant buzzing sound coming from the inverter. when the flicker occurs, the buzzing also fluctuates.
3. changing the "image presets" affects the flicker somehow, flicker seems stronger on power saver setting - with lower backlight. there is no backlight control option in the settings
4. removing...Last edited by tuner2000i; 06-13-2018, 03:45 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 47PFL4606H/12 flickering issue/strobo effect
yes, i checked the schematics as well. but definitely the problem is not from there. check edit 2 in the post above
i think the easiest thing to do would be to buy another PSU. but i can not seem to find any in my country. i found one in poland on some website, but i am not sure if they actually have it. on ebay i could not see any in europe
i found this forum post
i removed pin 2 - so this way we have 0V on it. the buzzing is completely gone. according to this forum " If the buzzing fades down...Last edited by tuner2000i; 06-13-2018, 02:55 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 47PFL4606H/12 flickering issue/strobo effect
you have a point there. just checked and remade the soldering on the PSU for pin 1 and 2. also on the motherboard connector pin 1 looked like it was not perfectly making contact. i took both pin 1 and 2 out of the plug and made sure that they are tight.
on pin 1 i have 4.95V
pin 2 has 2.63V
no fluctuations... I put all back together hoping the issue was fixed, the buzzing from the invertor seemed more constant but then i still got some flicker again.
i also tried messing with picture...Last edited by tuner2000i; 06-13-2018, 02:08 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 47PFL4606H/12 flickering issue/strobo effect
i have 371 VDC between the legs of the 450VDC capacitor. Also i can 100% confirm that the backlight is flickering as i can see it when i take the cover off. also the constant sound i am hearing is coming direcly from the inverter.
is the voltage right? because i can not find anywhere the value it's supposed to have.
i put the original motherboard inside and it says the TV has 1130 hours
also as i mentioned the flicker never appears while the tv is loading and displays the philips logo. also...Last edited by tuner2000i; 06-13-2018, 12:05 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 47PFL4606H/12 flickering issue/strobo effect
i dont think this TV has a backlight adjustment setting, but i will check again to make sure. i know 100% that dynamic backlight is turned off.
also, tomorrow i will open the unit and measure the voltage and check for cold solder joints.
thank you for all the help! do you think i should try removing the two capacitors mentioned above?Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 47PFL4606H/12 flickering issue/strobo effect
that picture is from the internet. i just said i had something a little similar, but i did not get double image. my problem is not the panel, it is 100% something related to the backlight or power supply. i can see the backlight flickering in the back of the TV
also one thing i noticed that can be seen in the video as well, the flicker never appears until the TV fully loads. for example while displaying the philips logo there is never flicker there. only once the tv is fully booted i can see the flicker. it's...Last edited by tuner2000i; 06-12-2018, 11:40 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 47PFL4606H/12 flickering issue/strobo effect
looking at the manual you posted i think i had more like a GATE DRIVER FAILURE then gate tab bond failure. but this thing happened so rarely and lasted so little that i am not able to make a picture. i did not see this thing for monthsLeave a comment:

Re: Philips 47PFL4606H/12 flickering issue/strobo effect
Yes, i can 100% see the backlight flicker. That issue happened as i said 10 times in 300 starts lets say, and maybe it was caused by the ribbon connectors. As you can see in the pictures above they were not actually sitting properly. I think the sound i am hearing is coming from the invertor itself. I remember hearing this when fixing an old laptop, coming stright out of the invertor
Ps: after i made the video i left it on for a few more hours and the flicker never came back again. Right now, on cold start it...Last edited by tuner2000i; 06-12-2018, 01:54 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 47PFL4606H/12 flickering issue/strobo effect
i tried searching locally for the ccfl tubes and/or power supply.
i could not find any. I did not open the tv since my previous posts. will do that in the following days. any advice until then is highly appreciated
here is a video made by me, where you can see exactly the problem
service manual on page 59 there is a diagram of the invertor circuit. i can see there is an invertor controller ic there (i saw it on the power supply board as well). can these go bad?
