i have a 2020 macbook pro 13" A2251 with 820-09149 logic board so i found an issue with chip labeled U6903 according to schem. boardview using flexBV software, so i removed it from the board and the issue im having is that the chip says "07A08FI ELC180" on top of it but when searching for a replacement chip, i can find tons of identical looking chips that also have "ELC180" printed on them but the first set of digits is never the same so im trying to find out if i need this exact chip with these same numbers as mine and if not which ones are compatible as a replacement? if someone could help me i would greatly appreciate it! also where would i find a good replacement for F7000 on the same board which is a fuse i believe

Post a pic of the IC that shows the topside markings. The smd fuse is available from Digikey / Mouser / Arrow.

This ic is the TPS62180 buck regulator.
Available from Digikey / Mouser and other distributors that sell Texas Instruments parts:

Review the datasheet and note the topside markings ‘ELC180' to identify this bga packaged part. The other markings are datecodes.
Suggest to practice soldering on a donor board before attempting this repair or work with a local cell phone repair shop for assistance. There is a polarity to the chip so note the direction of the text before starting.Last edited by mon2; 08-28-2024, 06:12 PM.Comment

ahhh OK, thank you very much for the information. That's where the problem lay for me, was the discrepancy in the first set of digits bc all the parts I could find simply had the matching second set of letters and numbers, but the first set never matched when I was searching for a replacement parts but I was unaware that that was datacodes so thank you very much once again I really appreciate all your help because I've been scouring the Internet, high and low trying to figure out where to locate that part with the matching numbers lolComment

The type of chips are posted in the schematic. If you look at the schematics, every component has the identifier and part name. Don't waste time looking for parts with the code printed on them.Comment

Hi everyone! I'm trying to fix my black screen / failed U8900 GPU v-core on my Mid-2012 Macbook Pro 15" Retinaby doing a rework/reflow of the chip (once I determine that's the real issue; but it likely is).
I've been disabling the GPU in NVRAM for a few years... but it's just time for a better solution.
I'm new to soldering but the only feasible way to fix this issue is to do something myself.
MY QUESTION:
I've been seeing some people (on this forum mostly) run into issues with the logic board needing a serial number or it being deactivated (?)... -
by mferna14Hi, my dear friends., Maybe this might be a stupid question or something I missed or do not know. I have 2 MacBook Air A2681 (Indentical color & EMC #), both LCD screens broken. Before ordering the LCD Screens I confirmed both worked with their respective batteries & AC Adapters, & they did 100%. The LCD Screens came in today & I replaced LCD for the 1st A2681. (Removed Battery Terminal cable for both Laptops before installation of LCDs). Perfect Screen & Booted up fine. But it did not work with battery. I checked the battery connector & it was seated in well/perfectly....

by yuuki47Hello...
My sister purchased an M2 MacBook Air a year and a half ago. While she was using it a week ago, it randomly shut off and no longer powers on. There are no signs of life and not even the MagSafe indicator LED lights up.
We took it to Apple and they disconnected the battery and tried a bunch of stuff before they declared the logic board "brain dead" and quoted us about £567 to replace it. Typical of them...
eBay replacements run about £367 with the Touch ID sensor included.
I did consider to probe the logic board for shorts... -
by arahbanHello Gentlemen,
I am working on an apple MacBook A2442 board pn 820-02098-A with a visible short on the PMIC U7700 MVK-PLUS as per the schematics
I have a donner board from apple macbook pro m1 A2338 PN 820-02020 and I saw that the PMIC U8100 TMLT46B0-JPE could be a possible replacement for the U7700
Can you please help me confirm if the U7700 can be replaced with U8100 ?
APL1098 is it the same as APL1096
Thank you very much in advanced
