    Re: vizio E320-A1 not working

Thanks, budm. Finding somebody to replace the bum part is not a problem. IDing the bum part is my goal. Indeed, the kit appears to address the needed fix but I still want to ID the bum IC. Looking at the voltages I found in my tests it looks to my untrained eyes that eeprom U705 may be the bum IC. Can anybody confirm?

      Re: vizio E320-A1 not working

U705 as shown in your pictures with numbers you provided: 0182 G5676.
I do not know what it is so I Google '0182 G5676' for information and it shows as step down converter. NOT EEPROM.
SHOPJIMMY website indicated IC U409 as the EEPROM, no P/N as printed on the top of the IC is provided so I cannot look up the spec sheet to find out more about that EEPROM.
      https://www.google.com/search?q=0182...#q='0182+G5676'
      The first result shows:
      https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...80f52a718c.pdf

Your report shows the output reading of 1.2V which sounds about right, but the only way to be sure is to look at the resistors connected to the OUTPUT and the FEEDBACK pin to determine what the Output Voltage should be.
So to get that deep in checking U705, it will be beyond your capability, I would leave it as is.

No, not yet. I still need to learn about how to ID the bum part. Why? Because I just might want to learn how to do it myself. I'm thinking shopjimmy does not provide until AFTER the sale the P/Ns of the 4 ICs it sells because those ICs could be purchased elsewhere for pennies. If can can ID which ICs don't work then I'd have more leverage with a repair shop where, rather than blindly asking that they find and fix it, I tell them exactly what I need done. I know this is a simple problem with a simple fix. I just want to uncover it all.

            Re: vizio E320-A1 not working

I've received the repair kit from shopjimmy.com with 4 caps in it. Because sj.com would not offer before purchase the caps to be replaced nor the PNs of the caps to be used for the replacement, I'm offering that info for the next person needing help. I've noted each in the photo I will upload. I've ID'ed the caps to be replaced along with the PNs of the replacement caps in red except the cap to replace U409 is in purple as it is quite lengthy. For the record they are:
            U705: 0272 G5676,
            U409: MXIC MX 25L6445E M2I-10G 3T862100 L16755,
            and Q104 & Q702: 4449 BV9T11
I am now out to find somebody to do the labor. Any clues on where to search would be helpful.
            Thanks all.

              Re: vizio E320-A1 not working

I had similar power readings from my power supply,
replaced the EEPROM and it works now !

Thanks everyone for the tips, saved me from having to buy a new TV.

Watch some videos on removing the SMD EEPROM FIRST before you try to do it -- I spent 15 minutes removing one leg at a time, bending it all up and out of shape.
Later, after watching some videos, it could have been removed less than 2 minutes, super clean and like new.

OH, two comments for everyone else that tries to do this:
              The EEPROM location....
When everyone says that it is "under the metal plate" it means:

THE BIG METAL RECTANGLE ON THE MAIN BOARD.

NOT the 3 metal plates at the bottom (below the circuit boards)
and DEFINITELY NOT the big metal housing covering the LED PANEL.

Kinda hard to remove, but not impossible - there's 4 locations where little legs come down from the plate itself. Mine got bent out of shape, but once it was fully removed, it was simple to "bend it flat again" (mostly flat !)

              Good luck every one !

                Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

HP 15dy-2021nr wont power on mystery volts
                by supermattch
                Hi everyone.

I am diagnosing my personal laptop, because it wont power on and no leds light up.

At the dc-in there are 8 pins, 1 and 2 shows healthy 19.66 volts. The next three are ground, but the 6th one shows .283 volts. This is strange to me, it should be 3.3 or 5 or aome volts not 0.283v. As I am new to this, I would like some guidance. Please someone advise me on what to check next.

Oh the boardview and schematics I am using is for a similar model as I cannot find the proper one anywhere. Quanta DA0P5HMB8F1 rev F. Nowhere on the internet.

                Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Brought a non functionnal PS5. Apparently only a bad PSU...
                No beep, nothing.

After some tests i found this :
                - PSU is fine (12 volts stable)
                - 12 volts line is shorted
                - DA9065 was fried, F7003 also => Replaced both of them, short is gone on 12 volts line, no dead short anywhere else.
                - By the way, nothing change. No signal, no power, no beep.
