    Vizio M3D460SR no picture

Picked up this TV from a buddy 1 month out of warranty.

When you initially plug it in, the Vizio symbol blinks twice, pauses, then blinks continuously until you hold the power button. It then goes solid (dim, but solid).

After a 10 count you can turn the TV on. It has no picture, but there is a backlight. I dont know what input it's on so I haven't been able to figure out if sound will still come out.

From a quick google search, I've seen that the issue could be the power supply, but I don't want to dump money into it without knowing a single thing about it yet. I can't find any bad capacitors on any of the boards, so just seeing if anyone else has experienced this TV and could point me in the right direction.

Do you get user setup menu? If inot, check and see if you do get either 5V or 12V at both ends of the SMD fuse on the T-CON board.
Any good clear pcitures of YOUR boards?

I'll take some pictures and test the fuse tonight as soon as I get home. Thanks for the response, I'd rather not blindly buy a power board and end up having to buy something else.

Alright so I finally got around to taking some pictures.

Had a death in the family so I was a little delayed in my repairs.

        Anyway, here are the pictures:
        T-Con board

        Power Board

Inverter board?? Not sure on this one

        Main board

I don't see the fuse you're referring to on the t-con board.

Also forgot to add, I cannot see any menus or anything.

I've tried unplugging it, discharging everything by holding the power button 30 seconds, the plug back in, still the same results.

Vizio logo flashes until I hold the power button. Then the logo goes solid (but dim, to indicate it is off). I then press the power button and just get a backlit black screen, no picture just blank.

When I did a google image of the SMD fuse you mentioned, I didnt see one on the T-Con board, but it could just be my ignorance. I'm used to just replacing capacitors and the TV working again, haven't had to get this deep in testing before.

Need better pictures, cannot see much to what the components labels are, look for something like F1 on the T-CON board.

I found what looks like what you're referring to labeled F101, would this be the fuse I need to test?

Also, am I testing this with the TV on?

Definitely a fuse. With the TV switched on, measure the voltage on both ends: red probe on each end, black probe on the chassis.

I'm having the same issue with this same model. The Vizio light will come on bright when powered up using the side button or remote, and go dim when powered down. Complete black screen. I don't see any sign of of backlighting at all. I dont know about sound, it's silent now, but I had the speaker muted because I was using an external Vizio soundbar. I also seem to have good link lights on the embedded ethernet adaptor. A red led coming from the opitical sound port in the back. Now this may sound like a stupid question, but is the below board shot, and would it cause the issues I'm having in the manner I'm describing?

So as a shot in the dark, I bought a power board and slapped it in. Worked for about 10 seconds, the display had a bunch of lines and grainy picture, then stopped working again. I'd imagine I've either fried the power board again or blown the small white fuse out.

                          Any ideas?

This sounds like a problem with the main board. I have a Vizio VT470M with identical symptoms. I've already ruled out the power supply and tcon board. The inverters work fine also, I get backlight when the TV is powered up, but there is no picture or sound.

Unfortunately, the main boards are quite difficult to troubleshoot and expensive to replace, $100 is the cheapest I can find

That's what I figured. Chased this problem before on a plasma TV. Luckily the place I got the power supply from has offered to send me a new one just incase.

Just got this model in the other day, no picture, turned out to be a bad tcon board. it worked fine initially once plugged in but as it heats up, the picture starts flickering until itll go out. And also the tcon board let out an annoying whine.

The Tcon board is 46T12.C01. Its pretty hard to find for the m3d460sr model but I was able to buy the Seiki version (less than $15) and swap over the parts from the bad m3d460sr tcon to exactly match it and get it working.

The standby light flashes 2 times then reboots then it then tries to come back on again and just keeps looping until I take either one of the ribbon tables out (doesn’t matter which one I take out it stays lit when either one is out). I’ve tested the backlights but all working with none shorting out, I’ve replaced the main board...

Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...

hope someone point to the possible issue before I start buying replacement parts.
Tv starts normal and responds to remote fine, PSU voltages mesured fine 19v was 18.9V under load and 19V with main board disconnected.
Backlight stays on all the time,
                                    Sound works fine.
screen keeps changing form black to full picture in about 1sec intervals.
Picture looks fine with no visible artifacts.
I have disconnected backlights and flashlight test confirmed that picture is still doing the same.

                                    Hello all ~

I’m working on this Samsung 60” LED and purchased a new main board a couple of days ago that did not fix the 5 blink issue. The original main board’s HDMI ports (all 4 of them) failed to work and no amount of reflow remedied that.

This 5 red light blink code on the front panel LED is followed (about 15-20 seconds afterward) by an automatic reboot, and results in 5 more red light blinks. Then the entire cycle repeats itself indefinitely.

                                    No picture. No sound.

I tested all the voltages coming out of the power supply...
