Re: Vizio Vizio VT420M Good Backlight no sound no picture
I'm dealing with this same model, exact same issue. It seems to be a common problem with this model, as I've noticed on other threads
Backlights come on, power supply voltages are all good. Already changed T-CON. No signal, audio or video. Sometimes it stays on. Sometimes shuts off.
I'm thinking this is an eeprom issue.
The strange thing is that I've removed and reinstalled the main board a few times to resolder joints. Everytime I do this the TV will work afterwards, I'll think I fixed...

Re: vizio e420vl orange light, nothing else
Where did you get the flash chip? It needs to be programmed with the correct Vizio firmware for your model.

Re: Vizio M3D460SR no picture
This sounds like a problem with the main board. I have a Vizio VT470M with identical symptoms. I've already ruled out the power supply and tcon board. The inverters work fine also, I get backlight when the TV is powered up, but there is no picture or sound.
Unfortunately, the main boards are quite difficult to troubleshoot and expensive to replace, $100 is the cheapest I can find

Re: VIZIO E420VO on then shuts off.
I solved the problem by replacing the eeprom chip U18 on main board.
I bought one from a seller on Ebay who sent the chip without flashing it first. I was not pleased. After getting a refund I found another guy who sells the chips and programs them himself.
If anyone knows where to get the file needed to flash these chips, I'd be very interested. I'm sure this won't be the last time I run into this issue

Re: Completely dead VIZIO SV420XVT1A
Here is a picture of the mosfet. The one that is missing in the first picture is the one that was actually shorted. I changed the one next to it as well, since it was the same mosfet, and I assumed they are working together.
The TV came back to life. However, the picture quality is not great. I plan on recapping and replacing some other compnents on the power supply to see if it improves....

I have the exact same model, with the exact same problem. I haven't really had time to work on it, but when I do I will post back here with any info

Re: Vizio LCD E420VO 2 seconds to black
*bump*
I want to power up the power supply without the main attached. What would be the best way to do this?

Re: Vizio LCD E420VO 2 seconds to black
no audio. I tried to plug in a dvd player to check this. The TV turns on, displays the Vizio splash screen, and then shuts off before I can get to any menus or change inputs.
This is why I'm a bit suspicious of the main board. I'm thinking possibly corrupt eeprom or something like that maybe shutting down the power supply after the splash screen.
If I hold 3 volts on the PS_ON, shouldn't the power supply stay on if it's good?

Vizio LCD E420VO 2 seconds to black
I have 5 volts standby present. When I press power button, PS_ON goes to 2.98 volts, backlights come on, screen displays Vizio logo for about 2 seconds, then the power supply shuts off and the TV goes back into standby.
It appears that this power supply is a power supply/inverter board in one, and the main board is a main/tcon in one board.
I see no bad caps or signs of anything bad on either board. I am suspicious of the main/tcon board. How can I verify the power supply is good? What other signal is it getting from the main that might make it shut off?...

Samsung plasma buzzing model #pn43d450a2dxza
I have a Samsung plasma that works fine, the only problem is that there is a fairly loud buzzing sound coming from the back of the TV. The buzzing will increase in intensity when there is more white, or brighter colors being displayed.
I googled and found all sorts of ridiculous ideas regarding the cause and possible fixes...
Has anyone run into this problem and found a successful solution?

Re: Completely dead VIZIO SV420XVT1A
I found a shorted mosfet, part number FQPF12N60C. Looks like it's a 600V 25A mosfet that has become obsolete. Neither Digikey nor Mouser have it in stock. I ordered one from china on ebay. I'll post a picture of it's location later for future site reference.
Thanks for the help

Completely dead VIZIO SV420XVT1A
When plugged in there is no standby light, nothing at all. I found the 5A 250V fuse on the power supply ( bottom right side of picture) is blown.
I disconnected all boards from the power supply, and powered up with a new fuse installed. The fuse blew immediatley. Obviously the power supply is bad.
I will troubleshoot further and post my findings.
Any input or assistance from someone that has worked on this model would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks!...

Re: th50px60u panasonic plasma issue
I had a 50" Samsung plasma FPT5084x that did this to me. It worked fine for about 24 hours after picking it up. Then I couldn't get it to turn on.

Just got burned on 52" Sharp LCD
A$$hole sells me a 52" LCD for $75, claiming the TV only displays blue horizontal lines when powered on. So I buy it thinking TCON or main board problem.
I get home and turn it on and it looks like someone smacked it with a baseball right in the center. LCD is cracked as hell.
Let this be reminder to everyone buying TV's for repair, make them turn it on or whatever, check it out before you buy it and don't take anyone's word for anything.
Oh ya, and Merry Christmas!
