    Bulb tester

    Budm,.
I built one of the bulb testers like you have pictured in photo bucket I have a Insignia NS-PDP32-09 I'm working on that has a short. Very time i Plug it in it blows the fuse in the middle of the power board . My question is will the bulb tester work with a plasma TV? I can't get a light bulb to light I have tried a 100 watt and a 75 watt bulb' Also the fuses have stopped blowing when hooked to the bulb tester but no light comes on .and the tv is still dead no signs of life at all. Thanks Budm hope you can help.

    Re: Bulb tester

If you mean the tester converted from a cfl bulb that is only for use with a lcd set with ccfl backlights.

Have you now moved on to using a filament bulb in place of the mains fuse?

    That should light whatever?

If there is a thread started for the set post something in that if not start one?
using the make model and problem in the heading.
I think this one can be considered closed.

OK - Budm has several "Bulb" testers so now we know which one you mean.
Unfortunately I dont know how it works - I am guessing you just plug in whatever you are testing and if it is shorted the bulb will light fully and stay lit.

If its not shorted the bulb will light then start to dim as whatever you plugged in
                powers up.

Have you tested your dim bulb tester - perhaps plug in a table lamp?
If that works try a 40watt bulb in the tester.

Please verify that the lamp connections are in series with the outlet. Test it like what selldoor recommended.

A non-lighting bulb with standby light is good.
Turn the TV on, the relay should click and the bulb will likely light full bright, what is important is if it varies in brightness or stays lit.

Tom66 the TV is dead,I get no readings at all no 5V,12v,or 16v
.It's a insignia ns-PDP32-09.I jumped the fuse with the light bulb trick. No power at all. only reading I get is at ac where it plugs in to power board 114v. Bridge rectifier is good read 0.449 and 0.451. Have bad diodes at D911,D910,D802,and D802 also had a bad cap at c205 470uf 25v. replaced the cap. There is no life in this set

Not yet,I have to pull them to get numbers. it keeps blowing the fuse in the middle of the board on the primary side. There are 2 other fuses one at the ac plug where where it connects to PSB and the other one in on the inverter board it is good

I replaced the bulb only on my Toshiba DLP The bulb is a TB-25. This is the first time I've done a bulb only replacement. Supposedly there is a timer module that needs to be re-calibrated or reset. I don't know where the module is located. I see some vendors selling the bulb with the housing stating module included which leads me to think the module is located inside the enclosure the bulb mounts in, but I didn't see it. Maybe it's inside the plug attached to the bulb?

Anyway - I am seeking information on how to reset this so called module so that the lamp will operate. Apparently...

I have a Samsung power board BN 44–00 874C that is dead. I have looked for a schematic but no such luck. I opened it up and found two Mosfets burnt QP801CS and QP802CS, also the main fuse. I replaced them and checked the two blue capacitors in front of them. They both tested good. I checked the Diode on the same heat sink and the two capacitors in front and they checked out OK. I plugged it in again and that blew the fuse and the Mosfets the second time. I plugging it in again hooked to a 100 W watt light bulb. The light bulb starting started flashing off and on. I checked...
