    panasonic TX-P42X20B flashing red

    Hi folks

I have a plasma Panasonic TX-P42x20b set with a fault ....I only see 10 red flashing lights, I Have had a quick look at the Caps on the power supply board but they all look to be OK .

When I first press the power button I hear a click then a few seconds later another click and the light starts to flash.

any help here would be great ...

    PS great forum

That isn't particularly applicable for this set, it's more designed for LG, Samsung and Fujitsu-Hitachi plasmas. On this set, 10 blinks is likely a failed ceramic capacitor on the PSU board.

A picture of your power board, the large centre one, would be very helpful in this instance. I have a feeling this is different from the common 10 blink problem due to a different PSU.

              Yeah... it's a different PSU.

              10 blinks is a Sub 3.3V, 5V, 9V or tuner power SOS.
It can be P, SC, SS or A board.

              To diagnose:

Unplug SC/SS. These are the two large boards on the sides of the plasma panel. Both the power (thick blue/white) and data (thin ribbon) should be unplugged. It can be left installed in the chassis. If the blink code then turns to 6, 7 or 8 blinks the problem is with the SC or SS. If not it is P or A.

since the code stays at 10 blinks with both the white and blue cables to each board at the sides and the ribbon cable unplugged from the left board , I still get 10 flashes from the red light , could this be a PSU fault ?

Did you unplug the other cable on the SS (right) board? Picture in case it is different would help.

Are these the 2 ribbon cables on the bottom board ? if so then when removed I still get 10 flashes ...

Those are the panel ribbons, you can leave those connected. They go to the plasma panel itself. We are looking for any connectors other than those.

with a bit of luck it will just be the power supply board , I don't mind replacing components ,I cannot see any scorch marks or anything looking burnt out on this this board.

I wonder if re-flashing the BIOS might be of any use here.

As far as I understood, steady flashing either means insufficient power or a CPU/GPU/Motherboard issue. I use the original 65watt power supply.

There are so many threads out there, but most of the solutions involve flashing codes, which I dont have or claim that you MUST use the original power supply, do a hard reset, reseat the RAM, clean the RAM,...

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Recently I've gotten into EC flashing due to my broken laptop(s) and started frantically searching methods for flashing the IT5571E-128 chip on the cheap(due to me beaing a student and not having a job) and noticed that ITE newer chips can be flashed via ISP (In-System Programming) either via SMBus or the KBC (EPP - Enhanced Parallel Port) interface. After setting up the BIOS, the laptop displays the wrong image until Windows loads. (More precisely, it displays, but distorted, instead of the Panasonic image immediately after turning it on, it displays what is in photo #1 in the attached file) Then the image appears when Windows starts loading and then there are no problems with the screen until the reboot. If you enter the BIOS, just a black screen. If you connect an external screen, the image on it is the same as on the built-in...
