Did you mean NOW working? Otherwise you seem awfully pleased it's still not going
Any one know what might need changed on the a board to repair it or where to get the data from a 42" a board to change it on my 37" a board.
Or even how to change the resolution to enable full picture.
you more than welcome to this faulty A board I have if you can find any use for it .
Stick the other boards on eBay so others can use them. You should be able to get back at least your 50 quid.

Glad you got your tv going again Karl, was wondering if you could copy data from your A board now by SD card as in service manual 6.5 and post on here so I could copy to mine see if it fixes/changes my settings to a 42".
Would be greatful if you could thanks in advance.
As for your faulty A board, probably same fault as my original one, and would not know where to start a repair on it. But thanks for the offer of it.

I don't know if this will work but have you gone into service menu and drilled down to Panel type in the option field. On my 2009 series it shows 42HD, OK. Toggle with Vol - , shows a second option 50HD , NG.
My boards from a 37" and I've been on that bit and mine said 42NG and tried selecting it but just goes back to 37"display on switching on again. Dnt know if there was anything else needing done for it to stay that way. Been through all ye service manual and says to check other things if NG displayed. Hope to get data from board if someone could copy it to SD card and post it on here so i can try it to fix mine.

Out of curiosity, when you toggled to the 42, it was red. Did you hit ok, it changes to black and then restart the tv? I'm not brave enough to fool around testing mine and changing to 50 just in case I lose the picture or the menu goes off screen otherwise I'd have a go.
Sure I tried that but did not stay as 42 when switched back on. Was a little while ago now trying to mind from memory. Not able to try it again just now. Even tried changing all the settings possible to what was shown in service manual but think it may be an unchangeable setting in eprom or something as to amount of pixel lines it shows on the screen (37" 720 lines 42" 768 lines). Then it just copies the top 48 lines on the bottom of the picture.
Just a thought there tw2005, if you copied the data from your 50, could you post it on here and I could give it a try out of curiosity and see what happens. Should have asked you this earlier, doh. I have a copy of mine as it is so no problem going back the way if I had to. Or I know where I can get another board at the moment if I really had to go that way. But the guy got the whole TV for £35 with cracked screen and possibly a courier cost but now wants £40+£5 postage for each of the boards he took out of it, and on his listing he has it stated as working board taken from a NEW TV with a cracked screen. But the guy that sold the TV had been asked by a friend to skip it for him, so it's not from a new TV as per his listing.
I've come to realise everyone selling cracked screen parts on eBay lies about testing them. :/ I've received a few dud boards that after a short argument I've got a refund and lo-and-behold a new board fixes the problem. Frustrating though.
I'd guess that a 50" panel would be worse. It has 1366 columns (as opposed to 1024 rows on both 42" and 37") so enabling that may cause loss of HSYNC = scrambled picture.

Lies, lies everywhere Tom. I think you and I have established that fact both Ebay and Stri & ship businesses. SJ is about the only one I feel is testing as much as possible and from the majority of parts they do appear to have come from brand new damaged in transit TVs. Some of the older Tvs maybe not.
The NZ A board I have which I inherited was an EBAY advertised as essentially new from damaged in transit screen. A lie- go into the service menu and it had in fact clocked 3000hrs.
Either the seller does not know it's logged or assumes the vast majority of buyers would not know how to find this information.
Some of these newer TVs with cracked screens on Ebay it would not surprise me some creative people intentionally crack the screen to claim insurance when they find out how expensive the repair is going to be.
