    Re: Vizio VW42L problems

im seeing 0 ohms between the positive and negative pads on the board with or without the caps solder to the board.

here is 4 pan shots of the board, from right to left. let me know if you need better ones. thanks again.

also I apologize for my poor soldering skills, I've got a cheap gun at home that i fried last night. ill grab my good one from the garage today.

Clean up the Cap pads with isopropyl alcohol to remove the flux -may as well replace the caps if they were new.
Perhaps start by testing the 4 mosfets.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

A picture of the bottom side of the slave inverter board directly below where you soldered in the 2 new capacitors so we can see if there are any solder runs or shorts. I think selldoor is saying that you might as well reinstall (not replace) the caps if they were new.

OK, Please check the TVS Diode (you will have to remove it) to see if it is shorted out. This TVS is in parallel with the caps.
The 4 MOSFETs are set up as a full bridge drive, so the each pair is connected in series, so both of them have to shorted out which very unlikely but possible, but it is easier to remove that TVS Diode to see if the short will go away.
I hope you do have good 40Watts soldering iron.
By the way, the caps are not mounted with through hole mounting so the legs do not go through the board. They are mounted like SMD device.
To remove the Diode, you will ADD more solder to both end which will keep the solder hot, you will be moving the soldering tip back and forth between the two ends of the Diode then you can use the tweezer to remove it from the board

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                Assuming...

                ISSUE: NO POWER

From the first mosfet 20v is not passing through, pin 4 has 19.5v and the first mosfet is a P-CHANNEL mosfet (SI7121DN) i think the pin 4 should be lower to active the 1st mosfet to allow the 20v to pass to second mosfet ive check all for shorting in the board , i did;nt find in rails, so ive check the schematic and im suspecting that, my Q61 is faulty due to its pin 1 is 0.47ohms? im not pretty sure, hope someone can help me figure out this issue.

                Vizio M65-C1
                by mrtek
                Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...
