Yep, that is the hardest part and you will have to be able to power it up with the LCD frame removed so you can press on the cables and see which one is bad.

I'm thinking I may just keep this for myself. The problem really isn't that bad and it actually disappears almost completely after the TV warms up. I just wouldn't feel good about selling this thing since it looks like any "fix" for this is gonna be kinda mickey mouse, and almost not worth the hassle

The problem was the ribbon cable connected to the panel. I was able to fix the problem by inserting a piece of foam between the frame to tightly hold the cable in place.

Unfortunately, while putting the TV back to together I managed to crack the panel, which really bites.

ebay the boards. The PSU is worth $50 and the main board is worth $75. The inverter tcon and stand can vary but you'll recoupe your money easily and still a have a decent profiet to show.

just to add a bit of info I have fixed a few lcds with using foam. I got a role like what you use to seal a door jam from leaking in air. Its not a 100% fix but it seems to work most times. just remember if you foam one spot do them all or a few days latter you will have to do it again.

            sorry about the broken panel.

Never thought of using an inner tube. Too bad they can't come up with a better bonding/connection method.

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel
                    by howardc64
                    Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                    Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio M557-G0 1/2 panel VGHD LC1 (and maybe XON VSSQ LC2) Problems
                    by howardc64
                    Failure Symptom

No Display. Just random blocks of grouped vertical red lines.
Disconnect right 1/2 panel (rear view), left 1/2 displays properly

                    Masking T-Con Signal Diagnostic

Reduced masking to 5 signals on right 1/2 panel and get perfect picture

                    Pins are

                    1 GND
                    2 VGHD
                    3 XON
                    4 VSSQ
                    5 LC2
                    6 LC1

VGHD and LC1 masking is absolutely necessary to get working panel. Didn't unmask 3-5 individually.

Putting LCD panel from Vizio TV into another brand TV
                    by frannyjunk
I have a Vizio P502UI-B1 50" tv and baked the main board a little too much (to reflow BGA) resulting in a dead tv. I would like to use the Vizio LCD panel in another tv. Someone in the P502UI-B1 thread said he/she was able to take that Vizio LCD panel and put it into an LG 50UH5530 and it worked. Looking at the Tcon boards from the 2 tv's show different model boards (LG = EAMDJ2S55 while the Vizio tcon = V500DK2-CKS2). I have since looked up tv's that uses the V500DK2-CKS2 Tcon board (Hisense 50H7GB, Vizio P502-B1E & M50-C1, Westinghouse WD50UT4490, and a few others). Does this mean any...

This is a dumpster find, don't know if it was hit, there are no visible cracks...

I though there may be something wrong with the panel voltages.
Those I managed to find on the T-Con board. Does it seem normal?

LG 49UJ6500 LCD panel lighter band that goes away
                    by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...
