+ an - are usually marked on the bridge rectifier or on the board but as budm says it doeant really matter. I thought they would be easier for you to get at than the Big Cap joints though if the BR looks good then that would have been next step.

Re: Sony KDL-32L504 No Power ....Dead

You still need to measure the voltage on the + & - pins. the two outside pins on the device
Meter on 600VDC Care - High Voltage.

          i measured the outside voltages

          Device1-Bridge rectifier
Pin1(red leadon volt meter) to Pin 4(black lead on volt meter) = 170V DC

            That is good voltage.

Ok - Now with it all switched on and connected meter on VDC 20 or autorange can you check the voltages at the connector CN6201 and post them. Then with meter on 200VDC check the voltage on the other 24 connector. Put black lead on ground screw and check each pin with the red lead.

Re: Sony KDL-32L504 No Power ....Dead

I plugged in the power cord. I tried pushing the on button to the TV but this did nothing. But i made the measurements on connector CN6201.

I placed the meter on DC volts and placed the black lead on one of the metal screws and the red lead on each of the pins.

Pin1: No connection.......ie no wire in it.
                Pin2:0.002V
                Pin3:0.002V
                Pin4:0.002V
                Pin5:0.000V
                Pin6:0.000V
                Pin7:0.000V
                Pin8:0.000V
                Pin9:0.000V
                Pin10:0.004V
                Pin11:0.005V
                Pin12:0.013V
                Pin13:0.013V
                Pin14:0.000V

Now there was a request to measure the voltages on the 24pin connector but i could not find a 24pin connector.

Note: Not sure if this is important or provides a clue.....but as i said earlier pressing the "ON" button does not seem to have an affect.

Sorry - should have said 24volt connector - its the other one you took a pic of.
Dont know about the measurements you have given as point sosmething a volt isnt any good can you check the meter with a 1.5v battery and see if it comes up as 0.00015 or 0.0002 or 0.0001 - if so can you change the scaling so it comes up as 1.48 1.50 or 1.52 then re test the first connector again.

Re: Sony KDL-32L504 No Power ....Dead

i took a AA battery (supposed to be 1.5V) and measured it...........the reading on the volt-meter was 1.5V. So the meter is fine.

The meter is a fluke 79III.

I also measured the voltages on the other connector......similar readings as on the other connector........either 0V or around 0.012V.......not very much at all.

You think the "On/Off" switch could be bad?

Always worth checking/cleaning there have been a number of cases where that has been the problem.

Just to check you did have the connector plugged in to the socket when you did the test?

Next thing will be to test the voltage across the BIG cap - you will need to get to the back of the board - and have it plugged in and switched on - so carefully does it HIGH voltage - meter on VDC600

good question but yes, i am 100% positive i had it plugged in as i recall hearing the "click" sound that it makes..........and then i made the measurements.

i wont get to the measurment of the cap until later today.........its thanksgiving day here.........

                            Ok - Happy thanksgiving day.

Regarding Was it plugged in ( yes it did need to be plugged in and switched on) but I meant the white connector from the main board plugged into the white socket on the power supply.

yes, all the connectors were plugged back in because it was hard for me to stick the probe down in the socket to get a reading.........but i jammed it in there until i did.........so yes all the connectors were plugged in.

one more quick note: I can plug power to the TV..........but as far as "turning it on".........i dont know if i have it on or not. I press the "power on button" but nothing happens. So i really dont know if the TV is in the correct state or not.............what i did do is press the power button and made the measurements......then pressed the power button again and made the measurements again.........they did not change.

i will try and measure the cap voltage today.

my neighbor did not give me the remote.....i will ask him for it.....if he has it.

i did finally measure the voltage across the cap. Very interesting.

i have me multimeter connected to the cap. I plug power to the tv and as i have said before i hear the "click".......i then look at the meter and it reads 385Volts DC. The voltage then starts to decrease..........

                                  does this mean anything?

You are not writing a suspense novel - what does it decrease to- if its
380 that is ok if its 0 or less than the mains voltage then its a problem.

On off you may be able to test- NO POWER to the set -on the switch board can you find the contacts for the on/off switch - set meter on 200 ohms probe on each contact and press the switch meter should go 0.0 to infinity.

Another test which checks a couple of things is to set it all up then on connector CN6201 and meter on volts DC20 check with black lead on a nearby ground screw and the red lead on the pin labelled P ON while you press the power button and see if the voltage changes. Then do the same on the STBY 3.3 pin. Make sure the lead from the switch panel is plugged in to the board.

ok, i measurd the pins you spoke of.

P-On pin: For a split second after plugging in the power cord the voltage spiked up to 2.75V DC. Then went to zero volts in less than a second.
I pressed the On/Off button several times and the voltage stayed at 0Volts...no change what so ever by pressing the on/off button.

STBY 3.3 pin: For a split second after plugging in the power cord the voltage spiked up to 3.3V DC. Then went to 0.013volts in less than a second. I pressed the on/off button several times and the voltage on this pin stayed at 0.013V......no change.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                            Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                                            Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on. The indicator flashes red 3 times.
I do not hear any sound and I cannot see any backlight.
I have tried disconnecting every cable on each board one at a time to see if anything changes.
The only change is when I disconnect AC-DET cable on the Power Supply board or on the other end if I unplug the CN7009 connection on the B-Board and try to power on the TV the indicator will stay on solid green until I power off.
My friend ordered another used power supply board but it is also doing the red indicator flash 3 times...

Power supply Manson NTP-5561 (5661) LCD controller dead - PIC18F87K90 HEX dump required
                                            by Andreas_de
                                            Hello!

i got a damaged Manson NTP-5561 (60V, 1,6A DC output) and and the main issue is that the controler IC for the LCD display has a short. The controler IC PIC18F87K90 is mounted on the back of the back of the LCD. Vss-Vdd = 3 Ohm. The 5V and 3,3V power line was killed as well, but that is not a problem. A new LDO 3,3V and 5V 7805 is already ordered.
Replacing the PIC18F87K90 is necessary but that makes no sense without having the HEX dump of the new controler.

Does anybody have such a power supply and could do a HEX dump of the Flash and EEPROM memory?
