Re: Is this 55" Hitachi a good buy? (lines on screen)
Possibly a single board (Y-sustain and buffer components), two board (Y-sustain and single buffer with both upper and lower stuff on it) or an omission in the manual.

Re: Is this 55" Hitachi a good buy? (lines on screen)
Ok, thank you. I have the tv now, I will post some better pictures soon.
I am looking in the service manual and the 42" version does not have these two boards. How is it operating? I assume another board has them built in.Leave a comment:

Re: Is this 55" Hitachi a good buy? (lines on screen)
Same thing.
Responsible for addressing the individual lines on the panel.
It feeds an addressing pulse into each line.
What tends to happen is the addressing gets stuck for the bad line(s)... so they constantly receive the same address pulse multiple times, and so their pixels are the sum of all of the other pixels in that half of the screen.Leave a comment:

Whichever half of the screen is bad, it is that board. So if lower half is bad, it's the lower buffer.Leave a comment:

I will have the TV later today. Is there any reliable way to tell which of the two buffer boards is bad?Leave a comment:

Re: Is this 55" Hitachi a good buy? (lines on screen)
Ah, I see it now. The only way that could appear like that is a bad buffer. Shouldn't be too difficult to fix. Usually it'll short out the whole lot though, it's quite rare to see single lines fail on a buffer. However, I believe when the buffers fail they take out a cap on the PSU. Or, the cap failing on the PSU takes out the buffers. Not sure which way around it is... haven't done a real Hitachi plasma yet (only an LG based one.)Leave a comment:

Look at the bottom 1/3 of the picture, there's a (fairly unobtrusive) line from left to right there. I would agree it's not a bad panel.Leave a comment:

Re: Is this 55" Hitachi a good buy? (lines on screen)
Can't see the fault, but:
Lines from top to bottom = Don't buy
Lines from left to right = Buffer failure, will need buffer replaced (~$50) plus a big capLeave a comment:

Model 55HDT79
Screen has horizontal lines
Price is $80 USD
Sorry this is this only picture, and I can only see one distinct line around the bottom 1/4. I think I see see faint lines throughout but It could just be the camera...
If its a bad board, I think I will snatch it up. I don't think I want to hurt my back for a bad panel.Last edited by mattpd; 11-06-2012, 08:00 PM.Tags: None

by jeyoung12Hi all
I have lines on the screen...which is an age old problem that can be remedied by watching Youtube videos and getting out the tape.
My issue (after successfully fixing a different sammy tv with a separate tcon board and isolating the side of the panel...):
This tv has an integrated tcon...so it is a bit more confusing when trying to isolate the clocks.
It has a c ribbon and i have taken each end out to see if that will isolate the lines. instead, it makes it much worse ALL over the tv!
So....i don't know what end of the C ribbon to work with... -
by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -
by ChrissygizmoHello again everyone,
This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…
I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried... -
by ggil44Hi, I have a Sony XBR-65X750D that has horizontal lines at the bottom 6 inches of the screen. These lines appear to be every other line because the picture is still quite visible behind those lines. The lines appear all the time with a few other lines above and below the 6 inch level blinking on and off at about 2 second intervals. I'm not sure if this is a panel issue or power supply/main board problem. I did replace the T-Con board without any change in the problem. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

by totofGood morning.
I have a problem with my LG Smart 43UF640V TV. It starts, the backlight comes on but nothing is displayed on the screen and there is no sound.
I thought it was a TCon problem and ran various tests. If I disconnect one or the other of the cables from the tcon to the panel then the screen is white on the side where the cable is disconnected and black on the other side. If the two cables are disconnected the screen is completely black.
In the 4 configurations I measure exactly the same voltages on the tcon card (model V15 43UHD TM120 Ver0.4) :
