Re: Is this 55" Hitachi a good buy? (lines on screen)
Just out of curiosity I put my blue ring tester on the transformers and there is one that does not ring at all. I tried all combinations of pins.

No, they very rarely fail.
Things to look out for would be ICs near the MOSFETs/IGBTs.Leave a comment:

Do transformers go pop when they fail? I have been over the board with a jewelers loop and cant find anything that looks broken.Leave a comment:

No IPMs, all discrete. Good on Hitachi...Leave a comment:

Re: Is this 55" Hitachi a good buy? (lines on screen)
On LG, the rightmost board is Z, but everyone else uses X.
I doubt this set uses IPMs. It will all be discrete if it is a Hitachi. That is, all MOSFETs, IGBTs and diodes. But if you post a picture, I'll be able to tell for sure.Leave a comment:

I have read that IPMs often produce a pop when thy fail. How can I identify which chip is an IPM?
Also, aren't the two boards on the sides of the plasma panel normally called y and z? I just noticed this hitachi calls the one to the right x.Last edited by mattpd; 11-13-2012, 10:36 PM.Leave a comment:

Possibly, do you have Va/Vda/Vdata?Leave a comment:

Re: Is this 55" Hitachi a good buy? (lines on screen)
With the power unhooked from Xsus and Ysus (all the ribbons are still connected, is this ok?) there is no Vs coming off of the PSU. So I guess the pop came from the PSU? But the TV still powers on with sound... Possible just the Vs rail broke?Leave a comment:

with X-sustain disconnected?Leave a comment:

Re: Is this 55" Hitachi a good buy? (lines on screen)
The harness that goes from psu to xsus does not include Vs in any of the labels. Only the harness that connects X and Y have the Vs label. In the service manual it shows where a test pin for Vs on the PSU. I tested it, and I get nothing...
EDIT: The harness that is going from PSU to Xsus is labeled "VSI" "VAI" and "VCC"... Is VSI the same as VS?Last edited by mattpd; 11-13-2012, 09:07 PM.Leave a comment:

Yeah, trace the wires from Xsus to PSU.Leave a comment:

I dunno then, any Vs with Xsus and Ysus disconnected?Leave a comment:

But the TV runs with sound, but no VS.Leave a comment:

I remember one Pioneer/NEC I had shut down with no Ysus making identification of shorts difficult. In fact once I plugged it in it flashed red/green continuously until I reset it.Leave a comment:

Re: Is this 55" Hitachi a good buy? (lines on screen)
in this TV Ysus and Xsus are connected directly through a harness. PSU goes to Xsus which goes to Ysus. I'm afraid its bad because with the Ysus unhooked, Vs was non existent on Xsus.Leave a comment:

Re: Is this 55" Hitachi a good buy? (lines on screen)
I would find it hard to believe the X-sus to be bad. It's completely separate from the Y-sus -- it's not even connected to it through the panel. There's no direct connection between the scan and sustain electrodes, just a gap where plasma forms.Leave a comment:

Re: Is this 55" Hitachi a good buy? (lines on screen)
With the power to ysus unhooked vs falls to -0.4mv when I turn the tv on. Power board daisy chains to xsus then from there to ysus. I was sitting directly in front of the xsus when I heard the pop. It didn't sound like xsus but I could be wrong.
I don't 100% trust this meter, I just found it in a drawer. I will bring my nice one home again and test again. If this xsus board is bad too I'm going to cry.Last edited by mattpd; 11-13-2012, 07:51 PM.Leave a comment:

by jeyoung12Hi all
I have lines on the screen...which is an age old problem that can be remedied by watching Youtube videos and getting out the tape.
My issue (after successfully fixing a different sammy tv with a separate tcon board and isolating the side of the panel...):
This tv has an integrated tcon...so it is a bit more confusing when trying to isolate the clocks.
It has a c ribbon and i have taken each end out to see if that will isolate the lines. instead, it makes it much worse ALL over the tv!
So....i don't know what end of the C ribbon to work with... -
by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -
by ChrissygizmoHello again everyone,
This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…
I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried... -
by ggil44Hi, I have a Sony XBR-65X750D that has horizontal lines at the bottom 6 inches of the screen. These lines appear to be every other line because the picture is still quite visible behind those lines. The lines appear all the time with a few other lines above and below the 6 inch level blinking on and off at about 2 second intervals. I'm not sure if this is a panel issue or power supply/main board problem. I did replace the T-Con board without any change in the problem. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

by totofGood morning.
I have a problem with my LG Smart 43UF640V TV. It starts, the backlight comes on but nothing is displayed on the screen and there is no sound.
I thought it was a TCon problem and ran various tests. If I disconnect one or the other of the cables from the tcon to the panel then the screen is white on the side where the cable is disconnected and black on the other side. If the two cables are disconnected the screen is completely black.
In the 4 configurations I measure exactly the same voltages on the tcon card (model V15 43UHD TM120 Ver0.4) :
HVDD : 7,28... - Loading...
