Vizio VO42L saga, Act 4: Got a picture, but it "stutters"!

    Folks,
I admit it -- I'm just stubborn. I've been working on repairing a "free" 42" Vizio my neighbor gave me for months. You can read back through the first 3 acts, starting with the last: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=22606

I'm now on my second replacement T-Con board (part #: 6870C-4200C, picture below) from ShopJimmy (which definitely works better than a used pull I got off eBay). I now get a picture, but it has two issues:
    • A big one: the rightmost quarter of the picture is chopped off and replaced by a copy of the third quarter (roughly speaking, see pic below).
    • A small one: There's a single pixel horizontal black line at mid-height only(!) on the right half of the screen (through the guy's nose in the pic).

Hmmm... OK, has anyone seen this before? My suspicions include:
    • Did I get a bad or wrong T-Con board? My original board is labeled with the part #: 6870C-4200C. The ShopJimmy website specifies a 6871L-4200C board for my TV, the box I got was labeled with this number, too. But the board is actually labeled 6870C like the original! Is it just the 4200C1 portion of the part number that's significant? Go figure...
    • Are there firmware settings in the T-Con board that need to be reset? How? (Tried using various resets in the on-screen menu to no avail.)
    • Do I have a loose or faulty connector? (The one on bottom of the T-Con board seems quite fragile.)
    • Some other part that's bad?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

    Mike

I had this problem on a samsung once. It was the ribbon cables that are attached to the lCD panel itself. If you check those connections to see if they are lifted at all, you can sometime fastened them back down with tape, heat or wedge foam in there...If it is not those connections, all I can think is T-Con....

bad connections on the T-con can create a distorted picture also..

You have to watch out on the P/N as printed on the circuits board, the White number like 6870-4200C is the P/N for the blank circuit board BEFORE it is stuffed with parts, the correct P/N for the board you want will be the ASSEMBLY P/N which how the board is stuff with certain parts for certain LCD panel. They can use the same blank board and stuff it with different parts which will become another assembly P/N.
You have to look at the P/N as stamped on that white pad.
        See example here: http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsear...6870C-4200C%2C
        For example: http://www.shopjimmy.com/lg-6871l-4200b-t-con-board.htm
this one the blank board is 6870C-4200C, the assembly P/N is EB122V 4200B1 as Shopjimmy has indicated for what to look for.

budm is totally correct...I have been there before. The same board is used for different applications, but the components are a little different on each...

Vizio M65-E0 No Picture, No Sound
            by ggil44
Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...

Vizio m65-c1 picture flashing on and off on the screen
            by maricm
            HI all,
hope someone point to the possible issue before I start buying replacement parts.
Tv starts normal and responds to remote fine, PSU voltages mesured fine 19v was 18.9V under load and 19V with main board disconnected.
Backlight stays on all the time,
            Sound works fine.
screen keeps changing form black to full picture in about 1sec intervals.
Picture looks fine with no visible artifacts.
I have disconnected backlights and flashlight test confirmed that picture is still doing the same.

Disconnecting left and right ribbons on...

Vizio D50u-D1 Powers up no picture
            by csmith
I replaced the backlights all good. Two months later set was dead, had a shorted D9100, replaced all good again.
Now months later set powers up,backlights light ok,no picture. 12volts missing from fuse on tcon. 12VA on power
supply is 19 volts. Changed D9100 again, same, 12 volts measures 19. Am I looking at a power supply or mainboard
issue. Set will power up with remote but not power off....

Vizio VO42L, white logo, no backlight, no picture
            by Daveleone
Hi all! I've got a Vizio VO42L. Plug it in, and logo flashes orange/white for a bit, then solid orange. Press power, and logo changes to white. There is no backlight.
From reading some of the posts here I thought the inverter could have been the problem, but I've replaced it and still have the same issue. I noted that shining a flashlight on the screen shows nothing, so now I'm thinking main board?

I took the following readings with the TV powered on. I also tried taking the readings with the CFL connectors unplugged - no change.

            Main board:
            Continuity across...
