Panasonic TC-P42s1 10 blink SS board bad!

Hi everyone I just finish testing a panasonic tc-p42s1 plasma tv with the 10 blinks code. I used a flow chart diagram and got to the sustain board by disconnecting the ss11 and ss33 connectors and turning the tv on and it stay on with no error code. According to the flow chart the ss board need to be replace.. but I haven't found the exact one on the internet, mine is TNPA4783 AD . My question is that can I fix the ss board? if not can I put a another ss board from a different model tv, because the only one that I found was the same number TNPA4783 but was pulled from a TC-P50U2 panasonic tv. Or if someone know how to get to the problem in the sustain board please give me some advise..

    thanks for your help!

Yes, you can fix it. Usually a MOSFET fails short circuit, you can replace it.

oh ok thanks your reply.. I will try to test the mosfets hopefully I'll find the shorted one... can you give me your opinion in putting the ss board from the other tv but has the same board number?

      Thanks!

Should be fine if part #'s match.

Having similar issue. Have a 42 Panasonic that I've diagnosed with bad SS board. Problem is I can't find one with AD suffix to match mine. Would a suffix of AC or AB be ok to use? The rest of part number is the same. What are the differences. Thanks

50" & 46" model boards. Most obvious difference is the panel connectors and locations. Yours has 2 these have 3. Rev AH would most likely work.

Also the difference in ERC caps/inductors may lead to failure of the new board. (High power dissipation.)

Re: Panasonic TC-P42s1 10 blink SS board bad!

Here's some radical thoughts I had.

The TC-P42S1, TC-P42G10,TX-P42G10B have panel sticker Number: MC106F16T12, part #MD42F12A1J and uses SS TXNSS1EFUU, TNPA4783AD with daughter board TNPA4802S.

The TC-P42U1,TX-P42S10B. TX-P42S11B, TX-P42U10B have THE SAME panel sticker Number: MC106F16T12, part #MD42F12A1J and uses SS TXNSS1EKUU, TNPA4830AD with THE SAME daughter board TNPA4802S.

the service manuals confirm the same panels.

I've had a quick glance at the 2 cct diagrams and they've removed some diodes and transistors, I've attached some pictures so you can see what I'm on about.

My thinking is if it's the same sticker and part numbers then it's the same panel so will have the same electrical specs and mounting posts.

looking at the shots you can see the 4830 is a cut down board and the screw holes do align with the 4783.

2 things which has me cautious about this are:

                1. connector SS11 as it's rotated 180 degrees and now vertical. Your cable may not be long enough to reach it in that position since it's inboard compared to the 4783. If you can get the cable along with the purchase of a 4830 that would solve that one.

                2. the 4783 model TV has 490W max in the manual
                the 4830 model TV , 293W max

The smaller board may be used on panels which aren't as bright, perhaps in areas where energy requirements are more strict.

Thanks, my TV is the TC-P42S1. It is the TXNSS1EFUU. I believe I've isolated that board. I get the 10 power LED blinks, but when I disconnect that board it goes to 6 blinks.

Actually when I disconnect the SS board the TV turns on with faint image.

That confirms the SS board is at fault.

Does Panasonic recommend replacing both ss and sc boards at the same time ? Thanks

If you get a dim picture the SC is probably OK and only the SS need be changed.

Thanks for your help. This part is very hard to find. Do you have any suggestions on sourcing a new part or a reputable place that offers repair services?

                                Hello,

Not sure if this is ok i have this same tv and same problem but not the SS board as i have followed the attached flow chart and see the red circle where i get stuck...

I do not get 10 blinks i do not get 6 i do not get any the Power LED comes on solid then the TV just shuts off that is it no blinks no nothing.

Would that be the A board or the P board causing that issue?

Any help would be great i could not make a new thread so i hope posting to this one was ok as i think it is on topic.

So, you originally had 10 blinks but after following the flow chart, you get none? I believe no blinks can also be interpreted as 1 blink. It looks like you should replace the A board according to your chart.

Or are you saying you never had any blinks, but you followed the 10 blink flow chart?

I am at the Center point of the board trouble shooting. its between the SU and the SC board. Does anyone have the slides that give me the diagnostic to isolate these so I can pinpoint it. It says slides 17-19...

Link or what ever would be great.

Disconnect the 3 connectors from the SC to the SD/SU. Remove the earth screws at the SD/SU boards. Jumper the 2 pins on the SC at SC50, power on. If the SC is good the TV will pass it's self checks and turn on.

How many blinks did you start with?
