bit cheaper than the c24 series ,still pricy though

no i havent used them,i prefer to re-program my own chips,.
i always replace the chip with a new one ,some you cant re-write beacause of the write protect pin,but most programmers can override this problem anyhow.
always weary about pre-programmed chips some turn up blank possibly due to ESD handling etc .always use a ESD safe iron and ground strap on your wrist when installing them, they are quite sensitive to ESD

can you post up a pic of the main board first?,just so i can see and look for anything obvious i.e fuses etc

also to do a check to ground resistance readings of the voltage rails for shorts

where is the location of the flash chip?,it should be marked winbond 24c****,cant quite see properly in the pic,and should be a sot-8 package 8pin chip

would think U6 bottom right corner of the card slot has green line on it,have run the meter over the power in rails on 200ohm all reading OL thats 12v/5v/24v/ inverter on and adj

You can electrically erase and program this read only memory, However eeprom is a very general term that doesn't really fit this ic. It's normally referred to as the eeprom as it's dos the job that a “normal” (24 x xx eeprom would do) also there are several eeproms on the board each doing their own job. If you call it the SPI flash, its correct but you start getting bogged down in terminology Please follow the link which explains a bit better:
                              http://www.atmel.com/products/memories/serial/spi.aspx
The file in U7 contains a program but also stores the channels etc.
On the 24X xx eeproms, although shorting can bring the set round, also fitting a blank, you can get other faults such as HDPC fail and a preprogramed ic will solve this.
The ic's are also not £17.00 each
                              Regards
                              Andy

great,so we know there is no shorted rails on the main board, and the fuses confirm good on the main board.

andy is right in saying there are eeproms on the board, what you need to do is to search all the 8 pin sot-8 chips via there data sheets on the net,the one you want will be the SPI flash chip, this one creates the standby fault your having, and stores the program for switching in/out of standby and some other things.

when you find what "u"reference it is designated on the board we can go from there.

the chip is normally very close to the card reader slot going by the 24" neon model.

andy, cant remember what site i seen the chip on ,but it was def £17 + postage for the 24" version which is crazy for what it takes to program these chips if you have the programmer.

floco,do you have a scope?,it will verify if the chip is functioning ,you should see a sine wave on the pins data/clock etc.

also have a check to see if there is an input voltage going to the chip on the V-IN PIN if its there then it will be the faulty chip,if it isnt then there is another problem

Hi I think Andy will confirm it is the u6 chip, Its in his add for the standby repair on CV109H V2.1. Sorry no scope, and the board is out of the set and on my desk can i not just check with a meter to see if the v-in pin has a supply< what pin and voltage am i looking for, all this with ESD if my iron is earthed and i am earthed even if i had to do the soldering in my pants would you not think that would be Ok. Sorry if that though put you of your tea, anyway back to you Flocko

you can get a ESD strap for a couple of quid .
you will need to check V-IN with the main board connected ,tv plugged in ,and with standby led on.
