  • Re: Neon C3298DVB stuck in standby

Glad it worked and good for sticking with it.

There was a delay on the order as explained in the email. I didn't have time to read the whole thread and thought someone might of suggested trying the original order. I have now read all the thread. With these EEPROMS they're very specific to the chassis used. You can get one that works and you just need to go into service mode to sort the screen,, others will remain lifeless, stuck in stand by , pulse etc if the wrong EEPROM is used, even form a set with the same chassis and screen...

You can electrically erase and program this read only memory, However eeprom is a very general term that doesn't really fit this ic. It's normally referred to as the eeprom as it's dos the job that a “normal” (24 x xx eeprom would do) also there are several eeproms on the board each doing their own job. If you call it the SPI flash, its correct but you start getting bogged down in terminology Please follow the link which explains a bit better:

    The file in U7 contains...

    Hello,

By shorting out pins 5 and 6 (clock and data) you are trying to blank the eeprom. On some designs of board, the micro will re-write this on switch on, on some the info. in the eeprom is needed for the set to work.
The ic is an eeprom, which is a very broad term, but has a different pin out than a 24cxx etc. The program contained in these is very specific to each model, so replacing it with the correct type is the best way to repair the set.

    regards

    Hello,
Im a new member but I’d like to interject. Please do not short pins 5 & 6 out on Eeproms, espachally this type. (25x32v) unless you are aware of what you’re trying to do. On this IC it won’t work but will probably corrupt any info. in the ic (unless you know that the ic is already corrupted). A replacement ic would be a preferred option meaning you don’t have to buy the main board.
    Regards
    Andy
