    Element 26" white screen

I know there was a thread about this awhile ago, however it seems pretty dead. I posted a couple times in it but didn't get anything helpful.

    On to the problem!

I have a 26" element tv (Model number ELCHW261) and whenever I turn on the tv the screen freezes and whites out. I have the back taken off of it and I can't seem to figure out what is wrong. I am new to electronics, this being my first project, and I want to figure what is causing the issue and how to fix it.

I have pictures for aid, they require a few clicks to the get them to full size though.

Do you get any picture or just a white screen? If the latter, there may be a blown SMD fuse on the t-con/panel board at the top of the tv. A good fuse should measure less than 1.0 ohms on a multimeter.

As per previous post, did you try pulling, cleaning and replacing all cables/connectors. Flat ones can be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol (IA) on a qtip and pins with IA on a brush.

This TV panel has integrated T-CON, it will not be easy to get access to the T-CON board, you do need to check the fuse on that T-CON.

It turns on but it freezes on a skewed picture of the element logo when it turns on the the screen whites out. The picture does come back after about 15 minutes of just sitting there as long as the tv doesn't turn itself off.

This may be stupid but again I'm still learning about all of this what does the fuse on my t-con board look like?

normally t-con fuses will be white, with a letter on it,ie D E etc, also look for fxx on the printed circuit board

              See examples here:
              http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/y...m/LCD%20panel/
but your panel T-CON board is under the frame, you need to disassemble the panel to get top the board. But since you can see the Element logo on the screen, then the fuse is more likely to be OK but it may have problem with regulators on that T-CON board.

It's sitting near the top then under all of the metal framing? That is what I am assuming. There is one cable going to the top of the tv, which is the t-con board then?

Yep, that T-con board is under that LCD frame assembly, you will have to take the panel apart to get to the board.

So I have the frame unscrewed but I can not figure out how to lift it off to get a good view of the board. I can see parts of it but don't know what I am looking for.

It seems like the cables and connectors are stuck on the boards pretty well I have tried pulling them off but they don't seem to budge

To ask here... I have few devices with white screen problem, actualy nokia 2220 and some fuji? camera, and try to understand what is common problem to cause that issue.
Yes, both devices work everything else probably ok, I mean, I hear intro melody and keypress click sound, DTMF tone, power on off... all ok.
On desk is nokia 2220 slide, and I check all screen connectors and components arround it, measure voltage drop, but all looks ok. I suspect on slide flex cable, but it look ok and white screen is not interupt while flexing board, pushing conectors, and sliding up down. In attachment...

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

                          Another TV topic!!
I got this sharp TV that when I first plugged it in it showed the sharp logo and then went to the input screen. This was about 30 seconds and then it showed white screen. Now I can't see anything but white screen. This has a separate TCON and Main.

The TCON is getting 12V and several parts are as well but the VGH line is only .5Volts which I thought is totally incorrect.

Am I on the correct assumption that the TCON is bad somehow if I'm only getting that voltage or is there something else I should check?...
