Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/
I wish I could help you more. All Panasonics are very well built sets with good reliability, hence I have not repaired many. The only fault with them when searching my favourite sites seems to be cracked screen. If it were a Samsung or LG I would know precisely what the fault was, but alas...Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/
Hi Tom66
I had the same exact issue listed here and followed all of the steps for dianosing that you laid out. Only issue is I don't have a power meter.
That being said all of my results were exactly as Falco21's. One thing that I did notice was that when I disconnectd the SC board and turned it on there was a little puff of smoke that came from the general area of the SC board.
Are the chances that my issue is the SC board as well?Comment

You will need a digital multimeter (you cannot use an analogue one), you can get one for about $5.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/
I ordered the digital multimeter from Amazon, I'll report back when it gets here on Thursday.Comment

Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/
Also ordered the SC board based on the Ops situation, the smoking, and I got impatient, lol. I'm going to try it when it comes in next week. I'll also run the tests as the multimeter should be here well before the SC BoardComment

Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/
Got the SC board in, replaced it. Perfection!
I got my multimeter in but didnt use it as it came in at same time as SC board. I'm now repairing my SAMSUNG LNT4061FX/XAA LCD television that has 4 bad capacitors.Comment

Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/
Quick question, I'm experiencing the same problems as the OP (2 year old 50G20). What board part number are you guys purchasing? The service manual shows TNPA5081, and the sticker on my SC board shows TNPA5081AF. I cannot find a board with the last two characters AF anywhere on the web. Would a TNPA5081AW board be similar enough?
Sorry for the confusion, first time trying to fix my TV.Comment

Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/
The only concern that I am aware of is with getting the right screen size board. For example, if AW was for a 42" or 46", you cannot use it. But otherwise, it should work. Make sure the store has a returns policy in case it doesn't, though. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Worked for me. My original was AF. I did get the matching buffers with the AP version. Not sure if that was necessary or not. Just replaced them as a precaution but the AW worked perfectly with same buffers.

Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/
Hi!
I'm new here (and english is not my language at all).
I can repair many things such as an iPhone to my Jeep Wrangler but this time I'll gonna need help. My TC-P50G20 stopped working about a month ago (1 year and 10 months of lifetime). After some time waste speaking with Panasonic and $$ spent on diagnosis and travel I decided to fix it myself.
The TV was working fine till one morning when I decided to turn it on the power LED went blinking 10 times. Sometimes it also blinks 4 times but most of the time is 10.
I have read all comments of this post but I'm not sure wich board is defect on my TV. What can I do to make sure I'll order the right one?
Thank youComment

Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/
10 blinks is usually shorted SN or SS.
Disconnect the SN board power connector. If you get 6 or 7 blinks, it is the SN board. If you still get 10 blinks, disconnect the SS board power connector. If you get 8 blinks, it is the SS board.
Seems Panasonic quality is declining. They are better than Samsung or LG, but they used to be -really- good. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/
What is the SN board? I don't have this one on the parts list.
When I disconnect the SC power I got 7 blinks.
** I don't have any LED indicator either.Last edited by JosQuelqu1; 12-01-2012, 08:12 PM.Comment

Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/
Ah sorry this is a different design and uses an SC board with separate buffers SU and SD. The SN combines them all. On some older Panasonic designs, they used an SM and SC board -- the SM combined the SU/SD and the SC board was the same.
Confused? I am too. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

heu... yeah! lol
So you're saying that my SC board is the defect one?Comment

I can say SC TNPA5081 Rev AF,AP & AW have. Board location D583 or schematic D16583.Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... -
by sam_sam_samI did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow
This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

by canadaboy25I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.
The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.
I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was... -
by BiruslapioHello, I've had this TV for 3 years, 2 years ago it stopped working signaling 12 Blinks, SOUND_SOS according to the service manual.
It has no VSUS or VDAT, and P15V has 1.0V instead, the same 15V goes to A board. F15V is ok and other main voltage rails.
It seems the power supply is defective, since unplugging D20 ribbon cable that goes from D-board to SC-board makes the behavior change, the TV stays on, there's no image nor VSUS, but 15V reads 2.4V, high enough to not trip the SOS 12 blinks, so it stays on, fans do not spin but I left it 2 hours, green led lit up... - Loading...
