If you unplug your SS board does TV power up? SS failure leads to dim, purple/deep-blue tinted or blurry picture. But you will have a picture to see SC, SU and SD work.

No, tv will not fire up when unplug. Must be a problem in A-Board.
      Will run more test.

        Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/

I wish I could help you more. All Panasonics are very well built sets with good reliability, hence I have not repaired many. The only fault with them when searching my favourite sites seems to be cracked screen. If it were a Samsung or LG I would know precisely what the fault was, but alas...

None of the boards on my tv have a LED light indicator.

Either way, IT WORKS!!!! Replaced the SC Board and she started right up!! Works flawlessly again! Thank you Tom66 for all your help!

              Hi Tom66

I had the same exact issue listed here and followed all of the steps for dianosing that you laid out. Only issue is I don't have a power meter.

That being said all of my results were exactly as Falco21's. One thing that I did notice was that when I disconnectd the SC board and turned it on there was a little puff of smoke that came from the general area of the SC board.

Are the chances that my issue is the SC board as well?

Pretty certain it's the SC board if it smoked.

You will need a digital multimeter (you cannot use an analogue one), you can get one for about $5.

I ordered the digital multimeter from Amazon, I'll report back when it gets here on Thursday.

Also ordered the SC board based on the Ops situation, the smoking, and I got impatient, lol. I'm going to try it when it comes in next week. I'll also run the tests as the multimeter should be here well before the SC Board

Got the SC board in, replaced it. Perfection!

I got my multimeter in but didnt use it as it came in at same time as SC board. I'm now repairing my SAMSUNG LNT4061FX/XAA LCD television that has 4 bad capacitors.

                          Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/

Quick question, I'm experiencing the same problems as the OP (2 year old 50G20). What board part number are you guys purchasing? The service manual shows TNPA5081, and the sticker on my SC board shows TNPA5081AF. I cannot find a board with the last two characters AF anywhere on the web. Would a TNPA5081AW board be similar enough?

Sorry for the confusion, first time trying to fix my TV.

The only concern that I am aware of is with getting the right screen size board. For example, if AW was for a 42" or 46", you cannot use it. But otherwise, it should work. Make sure the store has a returns policy in case it doesn't, though.

Worked for me. My original was AF. I did get the matching buffers with the AP version. Not sure if that was necessary or not. Just replaced them as a precaution but the AW worked perfectly with same buffers.

                                Hi!

I'm new here (and english is not my language at all).

I can repair many things such as an iPhone to my Jeep Wrangler but this time I'll gonna need help. My TC-P50G20 stopped working about a month ago (1 year and 10 months of lifetime). After some time waste speaking with Panasonic and $$ spent on diagnosis and travel I decided to fix it myself.

The TV was working fine till one morning when I decided to turn it on the power LED went blinking 10 times. Sometimes it also blinks 4 times but most of the time is 10.

I have read all comments of this post but I'm not sure wich board is defect on my TV. What can I do to make sure I'll order the right one?

                                Thank you

                                  Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/

10 blinks is usually shorted SN or SS.

Disconnect the SN board power connector. If you get 6 or 7 blinks, it is the SN board. If you still get 10 blinks, disconnect the SS board power connector. If you get 8 blinks, it is the SS board.

Seems Panasonic quality is declining. They are better than Samsung or LG, but they used to be -really- good.

What is the SN board? I don't have this one on the parts list.

When I disconnect the SC power I got 7 blinks.

** I don't have any LED indicator either.

Ah sorry this is a different design and uses an SC board with separate buffers SU and SD. The SN combines them all. On some older Panasonic designs, they used an SM and SC board -- the SM combined the SU/SD and the SC board was the same.

                                      Confused? I am too.

Both SS & SC have onboard LED.

I can say SC TNPA5081 Rev AF,AP & AW have. Board location D583 or schematic D16583.
