I'd Like to buy the ESR Meter you all recommended, but......

....why when I try to buy it:

    http://www.prc68.com/P/Prod.html#ESR

It says, ask to see if in stock, and when
I click on the link, I get:

    http://www.prc68.com/Contact.html

I mean, is this Brooke Clark guy the
person who makes these things? And
if so, why is he trying to meet women
when I'm trying to buy his product???

I believe a lot of people here use and like the Blue ESR meter, it sounds pretty good for the price. That is what I would get if I have low budget. I use SENCORE LC-75.

I use the Atlas ESR60, because it does capacitance too.

Tom, that Atlas ESR60 looks pretty good especially with the automatic discharge function.
Does the read out comes close to the spec of the cap rating (ESR)?

Yes, the meter I posted also does capacitance at the same
            time.

But yours seem like a good one (and packaged better),
            but also more expensive:

Does this look like a decent price for this one?

It also goes up to 22,000 uF, which I'm sure
is enough, but the micro V4 claims to go up
            to 60,000 uF.

I also considered the Blue ESR meter, but it's actually
about the same price, and it only measures the ESR,
and not the capacitance at the same time.

Also, the Blue meter is in kit form, whereas the Micro V4
              is already assembled.

with these meters you can measure the capacitors on the board, or they still have to be unsoldered?

I wouldn't rely on the discharge function. It's only rated to ±50V with >10uF capacitor.

The reading is typically very good but the probes fell off the connector in a few weeks, so I had to repair those and recalibrate it (which is simple... just zeroing the meter from the internal menu.) I have found several bad caps using it, including one which did not bulge.

I don't think you need to worry about more than 4700uF.

What do you think about the Russian-made Micro V4?
