Resolved.... Lack of sleep and kids interrupting me.. Cap in backwards.. Replaced cap and put it in the CORRECT way.. Watching Gladiator

Hi guys! i have the same problem with the same board... only oscilates and have voltages when I put a 20w car lamp on the 12v line! ... without charge I have voltages only for a second, rising every voltage and drop abruptly...
Could you explain me wich capacitor was the problem in lilmonk3 case?? it was 47nF? .. Ive replace all the electrolitic (exept the main big one on hot side) anda nothing! ... thanks a lot!

Hi, guys! I stumbled upon this thread since I am trying to find a solution to my Power Supply issue on the same board.

I need to replace the Film capacitor on mine, it reads 2KV 22nJ

I understand that it means, 2000V 22uF and 5% tolerance.

Can you please point me to where is that specific cap on this page?

22n is 22 nano farad (22 x 10 to the -9) = .022uf, J = 5% Tolerance. Which cap is on that board with 2K rating with that high voltage?

According to post71, it is 47n 1000V (.047 1000V). Are you sure yours is 22nF? You have to make sure to to the correct value since it is part of the feedback. Please verify.

Yes sir. It says 2KV 22nJ on the cap. No other markings on it. My country is using 220V if that matters. Board is a RSAG7.820.1673/ROH Ver.7

OK, it is poly film cap with pulse withstanding type. The color does not matter, the pulse withstanding kind does matter for where it is being used.

I see the 1.5KV .022uf but I do not see any spec sheet, that is the important info we will need to select the correct one. It should give us the manufacturer P/N and name.

There is a small town an Hour away with hundreds of electronic shops, they pretty much have everything you can think of. Someone's got to have 'em. =)

I just wanted to add my thanks to this thread. I found badcaps after googleing the problems I was having with a dx-l40-10a. I followed the advice from lilmonk3 and replaced all the caps on the main board. And now it fires right up and looks for an input. where as before it would just sit stuck in standby. (red led)

so roughly $30 worth of caps from digikey saved the $300 tv from the scrapyard.

spoke too soon. tried the TV again this morning and nothing. Just the red led. Going to try and recap the power board before junking it. that seems to have helped a few people

Thanks to previous posters, this thread is a great help. Question, does 22 nJ mean 22 Nanofarads? (the "J" is confusing me)

My Dynex TV with the same symptoms, (Red Light On but TV won't power up).

Just want to make sure I am ordering the correct value capacitor.
