    Guidance troubleshooting tuner

Hey guys, everything is working great on the Insignia NS-LCD32 except for the tuner.

Could you give some direction on how to troubleshoot the tuner portion of the main board? I posted some ~2000 pixel images of the top and bottom of the main board.

The tv says it's scanning for channels, but it doesn't pick up any ATSC or digital channels. I have measured the voltages going to the board and they are all correct and stable. I also measured the voltage at LP11 which is located between CP63 and CP43 - it was a constant 5V. Thank you!

Check continuity from the antenna jack to the board inside the tuner box.

Also are you connecting to an OTA antenna or what?

Also make certain you are scanning for the correct type of signal. I had one where the owner had selected 'Cable', but was connected to an antenna.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

Thanks guys. I borrowed another antenna to try and it worked fine! Go figure!

Plainbill - Haha I have done that accidentally, but luckily I realized it right away.

          Samsung PN51F8500AFXZA broke off the tuner's F connector, can't get tuner de-soldered
          by DXseekerMO
I can hear Fred Sanford now...."YOU BIG DUMMY".....I pulled the "F" connector out of the tuner by accident. The tuner number is BN40-00248B. Low and behold I had a scrap board with tuner number BN40-00248A. Although the tuner is different (according to Encompass.com) it's footprint on the board is exactly the same as the 248B so I decided to de-solder the tuner off the scrap board to see what I was getting in to.

As you can see in the picture the terminals and solder pads are super small. No matter what I tried I could not get either the terminals or support...

Requesting assistance with 486 motherboard repair
          by Byte_76
I have a seemingly rare 486 motherboard which shows no signs of life.

The Motherboard is marked with the labels B887 / 8 / 9 AI, which seems to be a Mecer branded board.

With an AT power supply hooked up, the power supply turns on but the board does not post, there is no beep and there is nothing displayed on the post analyser card, whether it's plugged into a PCI slot or an ISA slot.

I found a thread on Vogons of someone else who had the same board in working condition.

What I've tried so far: (In each case, the symptoms remain unchanged as...

practical courses for troubleshooting pc motherboards
          by blues_spirit
          Hello from France,
mon2 kindly advised me to post a thread to ask the question(s) I'm concerned about. I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for practical courses for troubleshooting pc motherboards especially laptops in Europe, if possible in France. I have been a computer network system administrator and a corrector of administration modules for automated programs under Unix. But I really miss the practical "ops" side of troubleshooting. So I would like to start from the beginning: 1.8V, 3.3V, 5V and 19V tests for example, etc...
Do you think this is feasible for me? I...

          Anthem MRX500 - no sound

          Dear Electronics Experts:

I have the following problem I am trying to troubleshoot. Unfortunately, I have contacted Anthem themselves and even a local distributer but I am not having much luck. Also, I have scoured the internet and unable to obtain a service manual. The Anthem service rep has also replied that he is unable to provide me with any service documentation. I have performed numerous searches on the internet and cross-referenced a few other AV receiver makers (Denon, Marantz, Onkyo) and found certain similarities to block diagram...
