Re: Toshiba 37" inverter board failure
So the cap CE92, CE901 are not shorted, then put them back in and verify that there i still no shorts. DE91 is 15V Zener diode.
Do you have any Zener diode?Never stop learning

Re: Toshiba 37" inverter board failure
We need to verify that we do not have internal shorts between PIN 2 (IN) and PIN3 (SW) of the IC. The reason is that the 15V Zener is shorted out can be due to the 24V is fed through the shorts inside the IC and dump 24V instead of 12V at the output.Never stop learning

Re: Toshiba 37" inverter board failure
OK, so far you found shorted out DE91 15V Zener, and shorted cap CE901 (10uF 16V), without those two parts installed, the shorts is no longer there. What you can do now is to removed those two wires for the 12VLCD that goes to the main board, connect 100 Ohms 2W resistor to the 12VLCD pin of the power supply and power up the TV to see if you do have 12VDC on the resistor. I want to verify just to be sure it does not put out 24V which will damage the T-CON and it will also trip the over voltage circuit.Never stop learning

Re: Toshiba 37" inverter board failure
unfortunately i do not have a 100ohm 2W resistor i do not have any resistors i also did not test ce92 on the board alone to see if it was shorted i tried to test it off the board with the dmm in 200 ohm but all i got was open both waysComment

Re: Toshiba 37" inverter board failure
these caps would they be general types? or high q types? i figure since they are tiny the case code is 0805 but i cant tell what the Temperature Coefficient / Code is or Operating Temperature RangeComment

Re: Toshiba 37" inverter board failure
CE92 is fine, not shorted. We cannot just take a chance without using dummy load first, otherwise you can badly damage the T-CON board. Do you have 120V light bulb? You can use 60W bulb as a load (cold resistance of the lamp is about 20 Ohms).Never stop learning

Re: Toshiba 37" inverter board failure
40W will work, just solder two wires to the lamp then solder them to the 12VLVCD pin on the power supply, you must disconnect those two 12VLCD going to the main board, you can cut the wires and splice them back together later.Never stop learning

by howardc64All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
- TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
- Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... -
by lostoneHello, I came here after finding some similar questions asked on other monitors and hope someone here can help me get an ancient Viewsonic VP230mp (23" 4:3 LCD) back to working condition.
First a little background, I have a background in computer and electrical engineering, and I'm smart enough to know I know nothing about LCD displays and how they work. For this topic I'm as green as they come.
When the display is turned on the viewsonic logo displays in the uppper left for 2 seconds then the screen goes black, the power LED is green (on) and when a computer is connected...-

by seppdeHello everyone,
I've got a Benq power board of a XL2540K monitor which suffered from a power cut and is since defective / won't turn on. It's got obvious defects, some blown resistors, some burning around the drain pin of a MOSFET...
... and some 6-pin IC I struggle identifying, that is driving said MOSFET.
The IC is labeled as IC601, so someone with a circuit schematic could probably identify it really quick, unfortunately I can't find the schematics.
In other power boards of Benq for which I did find the schematics, IC601 is an 8-pin NCP1200 PWM controller - I suppose...2 Photos-
