    Cannot Find a Needed Capacitor

I am replacing the caps in the power supply for my Samsung LED TV.
The 3 small caps were readily available from Rad Shack however the high voltage cap I cannot find anywhere. I talked with a tech at Digi-Key and he cannot find it. The Cap is a 450V, 220uF, Hi Vent 105C approximately 4.6 CM in length (not measureing the legs) and approx. 2.5cm in diameter. The problem is the Cap lies flat on the board and legs bent at 90 degrees and about 1cm in length measuring from the 90 bend however the length is unimportant as they can be cut but the 90 deg bend is essential. Does anyone know where I can get one of similiar physical dimensions and electrical specs or even higher voltage. I would like to get my TV up and running again. Oh, the manufacturer of the original Cap is CapXon.
    Thanks,
    Rick

Re: Cannot Find a Needed Capacitor

This is the only thing I found which comes close:

    http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...me=565-1250-ND

Height is unimportant as long as it's not too long. Pin spacing is also important.

Are you sure about the diameter? Can you take the cap out, grab a ruler, and remeasure this thing in MM please.

radioshack does not sell low esr caps, so there is the first problem. panasonic fc would be the best, but avoid radioshack.

Re: Cannot Find a Needed Capacitor

        Hi Carrera,
        Welcome to BCN.

        ratdude is correct.
Radio Shack caps aren't good enough.
They are General Purpose caps and you need Low ESR.
A GP cap will have a very short life in a Low ESR application.

Capxon KF series are usually best replaced by Panasonic FM or better.
If it's another Capxon series then -usually- Panasonic FC are good enough and a good choice.
[Capxon's ratings are a little screwy and you really need to look up the specs on the old caps to know for sure.]

The 450V / 220uF cap is the main AC power input filter cap.
Those rarely -need- replaced, but many people do just to be thorough.
[I usually do but I'm psychotic, just ask around.]
Occasionally I have to go to Mouser to source the larger AC input filter caps.

Except for the input filter you should replace ALL the other Capxon unless you want to do this again pretty soon. [Same applies to many other brands of cap but you didn't mention any.]

If you will post a list of caps showing uF, Volts, Series, and Diameter then someone can help you work out a good replacements list.

Re: Cannot Find a Needed Capacitor

What guy is talking about is 3 extremely long and thin main capacitors on their side glued in their each retangular narrow cut outs. This is due to space limitation. The LED edge lit chassis is about 1.2" thick.

Very unqiue caps especially that 450V rating, that will take some work to find good one in that type of capacitor with this dimensions. I'm surprised that yours is already blown since these TV are not even 1 year old and costs over 2,500 to 4,000 depending on 6000, 7000 and 8000 series and size when new. (UNxxBx000) series) Yes, we are authorized to fix Samsung stuff. We recently replaced a panel in one. Interesting.

Re: Cannot Find a Needed Capacitor

Here's three photos. This is UNxxBx000 Samsung series (UNxxB6000, 7000 and 8000). This is edge lit LED for illumating the LCD, watt is not better but a improvement due to extreme design. USA and other countries got 32" and the mentioned other 3 sizes, but Canadian only have 40, 46, 55 available only. Like I mentioned this chassis is 1.2" thick assembled.

This above pic has stand taken off (required) and small square hole open above the hands with screwdriver is retained power cord (no room for a kettle socket).

This is overall view, see how flat the parts are? This is extreme engineering.
The mentioned 3 capacitors in the group (foreground in a "stack" is the main capacitors wired in parallel fed from PFC circuit. These three capacitors are almost 2 inches long by 10 or 12.5mm dia.

Underside of the solder side SMPS board, you can see they had to go to this lengths to keep height real slim. And LCD backside is deeply dished so boards can be mounted directly.

Note the difference from 6000/7000/8000 series and this newer 8500 series is 1.6" thick chassis in order to have room for local dimming white LED *backlight* NOT edge lit.

Youtube of edge lit UNxxBx000 series:

              http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMP_W...eature=related

Due to slightly improved wattage, high "samsung tax" and uneven illumination due to edge lit LED design, I'm not interested and instead is about to buy Sharp LC40LE700UN 40" (true LED backlight albeit no local dimming) for about 1,288 (on sale), people have measured the watts on this Sharp LED LCD and reported about 80W for 40" vs samsung's edge lit LED design around 160W or so.

              Cheers, Wizard

                WOW.
                Those are some weird caps!

Any idea of the Ripple or ESR on those?

Data sheet for Rubycon KXW as best as I can see is estimate .44 to .45 ripple current @ 120Hz due to length and 12.5mm dia, with lead 5mm spacing. Plain old electrolytic.

The length is not there in their typical Rubycon datasheet, I estimate about 60mm long. Despite the odd 53uF.

Sounds like these capacitors were custom-made for the job?

Had tried using google lens but not much info was provided.
Appreciate if you can help identify this component.

                        IC Seems to be SOT-23.

                        Thank You...

Where to find a very small fpc connector 0.3mm between 2 pins ?
                        by corrize
Hello, I search this connector (oxydated).
It's a fpc zif low profile connector. It come from camera sensor, it is very small : 0.3mm between 2 pins.
I ordered 2 from Aliexpress called « 0.3mm pitch » but one was 0.5mm between 2 pins and the other 0.6mm. In fact « 0.3mm pitch » seams to be the pad width and not the distance between 2 pins.
I can't find it. The other websites like mouser dont show the datasheet, and I can't check if it is 0.3mm between 2 pins ?

Do you know how to find this connector please ? What is the exact name for find it ?

Sentey ATX PSU - ERP650-PS - Trying to find out the right Standby IC
                        by temyth
Greetings! I have this ERP650-PS atx power supply, it is a relatively simple psu, the primary has a driver IC that controls the two main mosfets (two 20n60S5), together with a Classic Standby circuit with a PWM IC (not a FET like the VIper22A) , relatively similar to the SDC606P.

The whole point is that I got this power supply years ago when I had no knowledge, apparently the PWM IC was burned because someone turned the power supply on with the switch at 110v in a 220v network (classic error). Important detail: the power supply at the time came without the primary capacitors.
