i dont think you can do it.
you can probably crash the software, but it may keep the values after it restarts.

is it inside a house, or outside?

it's not a counter.
it's a microcontroller that monitors the current flowing through the meter and then display's it.

if you want to mess it up without opening the case then all i can think of is using a strong radio transmitter against the case.

so you want to lock it into "night tariff" ?

you would need to use an ultrasonic probe to break the clock crystal during the night.
but to do that you would need the cover off.

or you may be able to reprogram it using the infrared interface on the front - if it is badly designed!
