    OCZ Powerstream 520

OCZ though making great power supplies, uses garbage caps, which just doesnt make sense to me.

Asia-X? Is that a cap brand? If so, I've never heard of it - good or bad! I can see the Fuhjyyu logo on one of the other caps in the background though, along with a Teapo, so it looks like they're really cutting costs by using crap caps. Either that, or they simply don't know about the 'bad caps' phenomenon...

Recap it and it'll be great

There must be a conspiracy with power supply mfrs. I have found them now in Emacs, Antec, Enhance and FSP/Sparkles. All are great supplies after recaps.

We have some Spire Rocketeer 550Watt supply's with Asia-X capacitors. So spire uses them as well, They are built by topower acording to that RU number on it.

Is ashame so little difference between a "Quad fan mega turbo 8000Watt $5 + shipping PSU" and a $100 PSU, the difference seems so slight when the capacitors are nearly the same.

i saw those caps in a NZXT Precise PRC-1000W PSU (review @ jonnyguru.com). The PSu will cost you ~$300. OEM is Topower.

You should be taking sideways glances at Topower. Apart from the powerstream 510, most of their of their other offerings have been misses rather than hits when it comes to price/build-quality.

                      by iMic
                      Hi,

Back after a long hiatus with some old power supplies that need repairing. I've recently picked up a couple of 386SX systems, two 486DX systems, a SiliconGraphics Indy and an iMac G3 that either have verified leaking capacitors in their power supplies, or are likely to in the near future. For the sake of simplicity, instead of tackling all at once, I'm starting with the 386's and one of the 486's.

The 386's power supplies are Seasonic SS4040A's, with caps that are visibly leaking, and 9 replacement caps per unit are required. Most appear to be from the Rubycon...

                      HP Docking Stations Power Supplies...?
                      by SolomonMan
                      All,
I recently purchased for a colleague and myself two used HP Docking Stations. They are for home use and are exact model as the ones we use at work for our laptops. We are both Software Developers.

Anyways these docks are HP Model 5TW10UT#ABA.

Unfortunately they did not come with there Power supplies (PSU) and I got them reasonable from eBay.

I purchased 2 new from Amazon After Market Power Supplies(PSU). Same Voltage and Same Amperage and in fact it mentions on the Amazon page they are supported for these docks as well.

Monitor Audio RSW12 - Green light but no audio
                      by MOSSEP
                      Hi

Im hoping someone might be able to give me some idea of what may be wrong with my Monitor Audio RSW12 Sub.

Ive owned it since new in around 2002, so would really like to keep it running if I can, it was the first ‘decent' bit of audio equipment I ever purchased and is a little sentimental.

The issue I had was that it would power up with the red light, but sometimes the green light would not come on and I would get no bass from it. If the green light did come on though, I would get sound out of it.

I have already tried replacing all of the...
