    Quoted for truth!

If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing well so you may as well extract those 2 1000uF 10v Fuhjyyu's as well, seems a reasonably common Antec PSU capacitance formula

    4 x 3300uF 10v
    2 x 2200uF 16v
    2 x 1000uF 10v

FWIW I just acquired an Antec TrueBlue 480w PSU and seems Fuhjyyu have been mated with CapXon in that particular series...

As far as not using low esr caps for a power supply. Will that cause problems?

The way I understand it, lower resistance capacitors in a PSU run cooler and less efficient components create resistance to the current flow which ultimately creates the by-product of 'waste heat' & running hotter shortens the service life of capacitors (in general)

The caps may will overheat and the ripple voltage could get out of spec, wich can lead to anything from stable operation to any kind of problems.
In most cases, short therm operation is not compromised, but your results may vary and depend heavily if the other components can handle the noise &ripple.

            yeah I'll seconded that Taz

Do it once, do it right and be done with it.

As for GP caps not recommended,

It would probably work with somewhat degraded specs but the caps would die sooner rather then later and you would have to do it all over again.
anyway thats my thoughts on it.

Well I've been in contact with Topcat so I think I should have some proper caps pretty soon

I just got them and they are the VZ type. Oh well.......... Not sure what to do now. They are general purpose. I guess I goofed.

Got my new caps from Topcat recently, and just put them in.

Pic of the offending fuhjyyu caps - not too bad looking really for being 4-5 years old. Helps that my brother kept his system dusted out regularly.

The new caps put in - mmmm rubies

Think it is time to put this PSU back to work again!

I popped open the fuhjyyu caps to see how they looked inside. Interestingly enough, only the one that was bulged was bad looking. It was rather dry inside, especially near the top. The others were fine. Guess all it takes is just one cap to cause trouble.

Replacement caps for Samson Resolv studio monitor 65A Amp board.
                      by black6host
                      Good day!

I have a Samson Resolv studio monitor that has no sound output. I've opened it up and found two caps that are bulging on what I believe to be the power supply section of the amplifier board. The board is marked Resolv 65A AMP V1.2. The caps in question are YUSCON, 2200uF, 35V, 85C temp and have markings of RA(P) and are 16mm x 25.5mm tall. I've attached the schematic and the caps in question are C5 and C6. I'm assuming they are low esr caps. I've tested both caps and they test low uF, nowhere near 2200uF.

I'm going to replace the caps and I'll be the first...

Replacement for the Siemens Bakelite caps in an early 1980s SMPS
                      by rewease
                      Hi everyone,

There actually was a time when early SMPS and late bakelite housed electrolytic caps coexisted in high end industrial gear. A friend of mine just got himself a CNC milling machine form that time with its first set of now 41 year old caps still installed in the PSU... and it's malfunctioning.

Two of the caps have already leaked slightly onto the board. I have not desoldered or measured any so far but they should qualify for replacement.

Now I'm wondering what to put in there as a replacement. First idea was state of the art low-ESR Nippon KY,...

Assistance with identifying replacement caps on ASUS P5VDZ-MX
                      by crosswinds
                      Hello,

So, pulled a motherboard out from storage, was working when put away, wont post when I took it out of storage today.
Since it was working, and it looks to be essentially time that killed it I figured its a good idea to replace the caps before digging further.
Looks to be only good quality caps on this board, so might not be the issue. But it is closing in on 20 years now so, wont hurt i guess

                      Its a ASUS P5VDZ-MX board.

I would really appreciate some assistance on what the best replacement caps would be for these:

Replacement caps ok? (smoothing caps, PSU heating controller)
                      by HectoPascal
                      Hallo,
i want to replace two smoothing caps from a heating controller PSU. They are probably 30 years old and it might be time to replace them.

                      SXE 470uF 63V 105°C (tested: 472uF 0.35Ohm) --> Nichicon VY 105°C - 463uF 0.15Ohm
                      SXE 470uF 25V 105°C (tested: 422uF 0.63Ohm) --> Samwha K5A 85°C - 446uF 0.10Ohm (or Panasonic RAD FC 470/25 8mm)

I couldn't find anything about 'SXE'. That's the only declaration on the caps. Edit: The top/bottom ident says Nippon CC.
Nichicon should be 'VY' series (linked).
I couldn't find anything about Samwha...

XBOX One S caps value and replacement
                      by Techboxcomputer
                      Hi -
I saw there was another post similar to this, but I do not believe he was referring to the same caps I am seeking.
These caps are in the “B” section of the board and the board is marked C9C11, C9C4, C988. The caps appear to be aluminum sheathed and are marked “FP 95 CD 271 16” The Digikey tech's best guess was Nichicon 16v 271 uf but I don't want a guess and solder in the wrong cap. Do any of you know exactly the value of these caps and a good replacement for them?...
