  • Re: Replacement caps ok? (smoothing caps, PSU heating controller)

I've found the datasheet of the Samwha cap. Its an 'Samwha SA series'. You can even read it on the picture above. Regarding a 'samwha-catalogue.pdf' its obsolete since 1996 (cough. No joke, i've bought 10pcs last week on AliExpress). See page 6 (below). The substitute series (SD) is on page 75. I've found the original series datasheet as well.

Looks like they have a very good shelf time though. Mine have ESR of 0.10Ohm that is not bad for 27 years. If that's true at all. Maybe they resurrected the SA...

What would such powerful/cooled diode provide? A 50% rectifer?
The component is labeled IC01 and the pins are connected to: Rectifier-GND-Circuit. Only the upper half was ripped off....

The old caps are no more low-esr either (probably for years) and much higher than the new ones already. The device still works properly in this state. Also doesn't look like a switching PSU.
Unless there are no other concerns i think i'll give them a shot.

Yep, rather looks like a voltage regulator, though.

    Thanks so far....

  • Replacement caps ok? (smoothing caps, PSU heating controller)

    Hallo,
i want to replace two smoothing caps from a heating controller PSU. They are probably 30 years old and it might be time to replace them.

  • Re: Samsung UE40ES5700SXZG (Edge LED) - Replacing only one LED bar

Yes, that's the one i've had in mind as well on ebay. Actually, he is the only one providing the BN96-21460A still.

Maybe the one-rail power line has another resistor (or something) after the first bar to protect the 2nd (edit: On the other hand... i think i measured R-/L+ with 0 Ohm already though. So probably nothing between them. But not sure if there's another drain. The lines get joined in the PSU plug/socket with possible connection to the PSU). And there obviously is a temp problem in the...

  • Samsung UE40ES5700SXZG (Edge LED) - Replacing only one LED bar

    Hallo,
i have a Samsung UE40ES5700SXZG with broken backlight. The PSU output for the LEDs delivers 250V (one rail). TFT and sound is working.

The first LED bar (in line) is defective. Several LEDs are short, at least one is open and some are ok (measured with multimeter, diode test). On the second LED bar all diodes are measured 'good'.

    Now i have these options:
    1) Get one LED bar for 39€ (local, within 2 days)
    2) Get both LED bars for 78€ (local)
    3) Get both LED bars for 43€ (ebay/china, 4 weeks)

I was told to go for...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hi,
i'm from Germany. We're only half the size of Texas, have 230V/50Hz AC but cannot build good TVs. That's why i'm here.
