Maybe that PSU was simply never intended for that transformer. Looks like that 2nd pin from the right on the bottom row now goes somewhere different

They were both PowerMan's In Win built, almost the same internally except for output rectifiers, one of the coils and amount of caps. They were the same topology so I figured it would work

maybe the transformer is wired differently ?

Was it working before you upgraded the transformer?

Bigger pictures of the whole thing not just parts. What was it connected to?
I replaced the 28 size transformer with a 35, and I just did the paperclip trick and plugged in 4 hard drives to give it some load but it wouldn't power on. Hooked it up to a computer and still wouldn't power up

More than likely there because the winding core had it already or for ease of alignment during manufacture.

    Don't worry it's a 'Not connected pad'.

Single layer board, with no trace leading to the pad hence it serves no purpose.

I'd be willing to guess that this is OK, and this pin doesn't go anywhere on the other side (if this was a through-plated via hole) ... that is, if this is even more than single sided as most PSUs are 1-layer... Is there a wire connected on the other side of the board on that hole?

You might lose a bit of durability as even if it wasn't connected to anything, it does hold the part on the board... but you probably could have told that the others do much more than enough to make sure the transformer doesn't fall off

If this is a 2 layer board the trace will be on the other side just solder the component from the top and you'll be fine.

If it's a multilayer board and there is no trace on the top you're out of luck.

I cant see a trace from where the pad was - that is why I thought it was just a blank pad - unless there is a trace on the otherside or it is a multilevel board.

    820-02020 PPBUS_AON missing
    by ugamazing
Board had no history of liquid; unsure of drop history, but no signs of damage of any kind worth noting.

Charger sitting at 5v/0a. PPBUS is at 1.9v-0.9v steady cycle (peaks, drains, loops). Confirmed CHGR_EN_MVR is missing, but DCIN was reaching ISL just fine, so replaced ISL--no change at all. Confirmed pp3v8_aon is also missing--and being unsure *exactly* which signal appears first (or if they are simultaneous), I inspected PMU/U8100 area and found no shorts, but also found PP3V8_AON_MPMU_ISNS_VIN missing (not shorted). Replaced U8100 just in case (have had them fail in weird ways),...

Apple NVIDIA AGP GeForce 6800 GT Dual Link DVI+DVI outputs 603-6338 missing caps!
    by jpreza
    Hi everyone,

I recently acquired this card from a seller who was selling a PowerMac G5 for parts. He mentioned that the video card was probably broken too.

Upon closer inspection, I can tell the reason why it won't work: it's missing a bunch of CAPS! (it's also missing an inductor - 1.0uH).

It's a nice card as it's one of the few AGP cards that will support 2560 x 1600 resolution on a PowerMac G5 using a 30" Cinema Display.

Looking at the card, it appears to be missing the following:

    1x 1.0uH inductor - orange square
    2x...

Making a Handskit hot air station a bit less stupid
    by spleenharvester
I bought one of these as it was the only one I could find that is compact enough to fit in my toolbox (though I've since found KSGER make a substantially safer looking one). It's one of those fan-in-handle things that has the 230V element in the handle. Quecoo briefly sold a similar unit but discontinued it.. maybe they couldn't find solutions to these problems. I'm aware these fan-in-handle things are garbage compared to a good air pump station but I only really use this for occasional QFN work etc.

I did not realise at the time of buying that its design is... interesting, to say...

    Asus Zenbook UX431DA / UM431D - Ryzen - missing PWM Fan Signal.
    by gurj1979
    Hey guys.

    Need help with this one.
Fan not spinning due to missing PWN Fan signal.
Also 5 seconds from powering up it freezes, unless in BIOS.
But as soon as Windows starts to load, it will freeze.
CPU is COLD / Room temp when it freezes.

I've replaced the CPU, same problem.
Replaced SIO/KBC IT8987e and reprogrammed - same problem.
    Replaced fan - same problem.
Replaced flex cable from board to daughterboard (which has fan connector on it) - same problem.
Checked the Thermal sensors around CPU and Board to the SIO/KBC and...

Hello. I would need some advice please.

My son's MBP suddenly stopped working and is now only getting the green-then-orange light on Magsafe and no fan spin.
He brought the MBP into the house (22 deg C) from a very cold conservatory (-3 deg C) and turned it on straight away. The Mac suddenly died a few minutes later.

I examined the logic board and couldn't find any signs of water damage, corrosion, blown up components etc. Nothing was ever spilt on it, and the logic board looks immaculate.

I have already replaced the logic board with another...
