I would guess that same goes with OPP. 200W is too low, even for a gutless wonder.

Oops, that was meant to be 10A from the 12v rail (well, 9.6A to be exact). I don't know where I got 5A from. All rails were loaded roughly equally. If I reduce the load on the 5v rail down to 5A, I can squeeze an extra 2.4A from the 12v, bit it's still too low for me. I want my labelled ratings.

Disable OPP. Disconnect pin 4 of the SG6105 from existing circuitry and connect to ground. Up the load 'til it blows. Fix it, then set OPP to 80-85% of the load you had when it blew. Done.

OK. How do you reconfigure the OPP? Sorry, I'm still not as experienced at this as you and 370.

sounds like you may not be able to... i bet the labeled rating was PEAK... go ahead and prove me wrong, but doesn't sound good.

Get the SG6105 datasheet, first. Page 1 and 2 give the pinouts and their functions, while page 11 shows a typical circuit for the OPP. My guess is you will have to lower the resistance of R3 in that circuit. Do this until you get the desired wattage (or until the PSU blows up - in which case you can just follow Th3_uN1Qu3's advice and set OPP to 80-85% before the PSU blew up).
Personally, I wouldn't set OPP to more than 300W, though.

In any case, trace out the circuit first and see which resistor(s) in your PSU corresponds to R3 in the OPP circuit in the SG6105 datasheet. Perhaps it would be a good idea to post it here as well.

                Re: Rexpower PL-400 rebuild

I'm having a bit of trouble tracing it out, but I have an idea. Since R3 just seems to go to ground on the datasheet, could you simply connect another resistor between pin 4 and ground?

Well, the circuit may not be an exact copy of the one given in the datasheet, but it should be close. Just start at pin 4 on the SG6105 controller and trace back to the middle transformer.
If you want, you can also post a pic of the underside of the PSU for me to try and trace it.

Yes, but you still need to trace out the circuit and see what values the other resistors have so that you can get an idea of what resistor value to use.

Sorry to dig this thread up, but I thought I'd give an update on how it's all going. I'm gonna just leave the OPP disabled and not load it past 400W or so. I now use it as my testing PSU and it works great. Hasn't killed any hardware or anything like that.

I haven't actually load tested it since disabling the OPP, but it will do 400W in theory. The switchers were removed from a 400W Antec StupidPower, which can really do 400W, so they should be fine. The secondary is good for up to 30A on the 3.3 and 12v rails and 60A on the 5v, so that adds up to 759 Watts.

"Should be" doesn't = "will be". With bipolar transistors, if the drive isn't enough, it doesn't matter how good the switchers are... they will still blow.

Hello guys. I have a problem with a PNY XLR8 GAMING RTX3090 graphics card. The problem is that it displays and works fine, but the fans don't spin at all. The problem occurred when someone else removed the fans in order to clean it and broke one of the fan connectors. He replaced it himself and after that, it wasn't working anymore. I guess he damaged something else in the process. What i have done so far: I found 2 capacitors next to the connector that were in a bad shape, he must have touched them with his tools - they weren't shorted, but i replaced them with similar ones from a similar card....

                                    Good Afternoon, Good People.

I know this will be an elementary little project for most if not all of you, but I thought I would write a post and get put on track, rather than bumbling my way through it with all kinds of trials and errors.

I REALLY would appreciate y'alls help.

This is the problem - My wife and I purchased a big ol Victorian/Colonial House in NYC two years ago. The kitchen is surrounded on 3 sides by exterior walls, there is also a 1/4 of the kitchen floor (ceramic tiles) that has a crawl space underneath, and the kitchen gets FREEZING cold...

my Xiaomi Notebook Pro X laptop fans work like crazy for no reason

My laptop started having a really strange problem....
When I turn it on the fans start working at a crazy rate and with random breaks...
They can work for say 10 seconds and stop for 2 seconds and then turn on again for 5 etc...
And it's from 0 to 100%. I tried to install AIDA and did the processor chip test and the graphics did not exceed 70 degrees and the fans were not even close to working at the power they work randomly.

                                    The model of the computer:
                                    Xiaomi Notebook Pro X 15 OLED (A30)

Dell Precision 5530 15" died to blown chip. Replaced chip and now only get momentary fans, lights, no screen or boot

                                    Hello,

My Dell Precision 5530 turned off suddenly when I was running Matlab and wouldn't turn on, show any lights, fans, and/or any signs of activity at all. I opened the case, removed the battery and looked at the board with a thermal camera while the AC adapter was connected. I saw that PU1252 was >120C so figured the chip had died on me Got the part number off the attached schematic (see Mouser link below) and replaced the chip. After replacing the chip the board (connected to AC adapter) was able to briefly power on, spin the fans a little bit, and turn on the front led lights....

Spectre X360 DAX38CMBAG0 - overheating fans not spinning

                                    Hello all

Got this Spectre with an overheating problem.
I verified that the fans start briefly during power up, but never turn on again,
even when stress testing the machine and CPU at 100°C fans dont spin

                                    Ive measured and I have 5V, 3.3v and 3rd pin 0.
When fans spin during start up, the signal at 0v is at 1.6v.

Probably its Fan2Sig pin and 3.3V is PWM, not sure

Question is , how to fix?
I think these signals come from ITE controller am I right?
                                    Should I bother replacing it?

                                    Thanks...
