I have and Asus Q409ZA that I purchased new, and all was well until it eventually turned on to a black screen.

I backed up my original BIOS. I then downloaded and flashed an engineering BIOS posted by another member. It works great until something updates and the laptop starts up to a black screen, no activity. It can be reflashed with the engineering BIOS and work again until etc. etc.

I've attached the original dump of this laptop with its serial number and other information in tact. I've also included the new engineering BIOS. Maybe somebody could take a look and find out what the problem is, or rebuild my original.

    Laptop : Asus Q409ZA (UX3402ZA)
    S/N: N2N0LP00C329067
    Motherboard : NB5936 V3.0

    Thanks!

I managed to repair my original BIOS (so far) using the ME guide and doing a LOT of digging for v16 tools.

Major breakthrough, feels great to finally be back to using the original BIOS on this laptop. Hopefully it will last.

I thought I might as well look at this one while I'm at it, maybe this will work too if you still need it cyllell. I know it's been over half a year.

Interestingly, the ME version v16.0.15.1662 is identical to my failed laptop BIOS.

I just want to thank Lisa Su for posting this BIOS. Absolutely saved my laptop from a no audio/boot hang issue.

I'm still under warranty with two weeks left, but don't want to deal with shipping/diag fee/etc. just to get a replacement laptop from ASUS.

My cheapy 3v3 modified CH341A (black) programmer worked out great. NeoProgrammer knows that it's connected, but doesn't recognize the IC (XM25QH256C). I was able to choose the IC's previous revision from the IC list (256B) and read/verify/write successfully.

Thank you thank you THANK you.

Hi, I have the same laptop and am currently facing the same issue. I have bought a ch341a from amazon, but I am very new to this stuff. I can't identify the bios chip. Could you help me identify if the bios chip is the one in the image below. Also, is it ok if I just flash the Engineering BIOS given or do I need to update anything on it. (I sent it for repair before trying myself but the repair guy ended up losing my original bios file without fixing the issue.)

I am also attaching another working BIOS file I found. Should flash that instead of the engineering BIOS? (Should I just replace all the SN on this BIOS and flash it?)

        Thanks for the help.

Find the chip with the number 256 on it. For example: 25Q256xxxx

Thank you so much. I found the chip on the other side (as shown in the image below). Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I tried a SOIC8 clip that came with my programmer, but it didn't connect properly. Would I need to desolder it using a hot air station? (Or would a standard soldering iron be enough?).

I just ran some wires directly to the test pads around the IC, much safer and less work than taking hot air to the board.

yep, wires and CH341A = perfect combination for a disaster

The procedure is to load the file on a pendrive, place it on the PC with the damaged bios and start?

update contains only bios_region, not all bios. You have to upload your bios backup and somebody will help you to rebuild it.

There is nothing more I can do from the file in the ZIP in post #23.

I hate to ask the simple questions, but what symptom does your laptop show?

If it is turning on with a black screen, are you waiting for the BIOS to initialize? The laptop will reboot two or three times before actually showing an ASUS logo. The initialization process takes around 2 minutes usually.

Hi, is there maybe a clip available to purchase from Amazon / ebay / Ali Express to avoid the need of desoldering the chip?

                                        ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?
                                        by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                                        Some issues
                                        A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

                                        Things I tried

1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...

Asus vivobook s510ua bios changed to x510un

                                        Hi there,

I know there is somebody who can tell me what is happening with my laptop. For start, it is an asus vivobook s510ua with an asustek x510ua motherboard with an intel i5 7200u cpu and 16gb ram.. i have a screenshot from speccy before strange things started.. as you can see the laptop type and bios version x510ua.302.I don’t manually update the bios because i don’t like to having a bricked bios, i know what troubles that gives..

I did a fresh win 11 install, and after the automatic updates, windows rebooted and automatically started asus ez flash.....

Need real mobo dump of BIOS v402 for ASUS PRIME Z590-A - stock image no help

                                        Hi,

I have a serious problem to program the Z590 chipset SRAM with a Management Engine after replacing the chipset.
The new chipset is factory new and is not containing any Management Engine. Any attempts to program it into the chipset under Windows ends with a failure (eg. Error 20: Management Engine Device not present, or something similar).
Due to the lack of the ME several ports on the board, including all M.2 ports aren't working, booting OS works only on USB. So it's now other way, as to program the chipset with a ME.

Usually on ASUS boards it worked...

ASUS ex-b250-V7 motherboard bios corrupted - by me
                                        by oragano
hey all, i did a silly thing and flashed bios to perfectly working board. None of the asus official download bios would work with ez flash. They all gave error saying not supported bios file. I tried using uefi tool to extract it to a bin file but then ez flash wouldnt even recognise it.
So, i used freedos and afudos with the aforementioned bin file i extracted and forced the issue. After bios reprogram, reboot and it was dead. Fans spinning but no post.
i have a bios writer and none of the .cap files from the official site work either. I just get one spin, then off, then all fans...
