    Asus X42J bios dump

Good day guys. Do you have bios dump for this laptop? Motherboard code is K42Jr rev 4.1. Laptop came to me with no power. Found out dc jack is busted so I replaced it and now laptop has power. When I press power button all lights are normal but there's no display on screen and external monitor. Tried multiple memory modules but same result.

It seems that motherboard is reacting because when laptop it turned on, fan will not spin unless it reaches a certain temp. I think gpu would be less an issue here because owner mentioned it was working before power went out. Owner also mentioned laptop has not been used for over a year since it lost its power. Hope someone has. Thanks very much!

tried your file alihomee but still no go. I downloaded file from asus website and its smaller, only 2mb file. Dump extracted from chip is 4mb.

i think it was different file. if i look with HxD at address 3FF34C is K42JY (stock) and your file at address 3FF34C is K42JE. but i don't know...maybe different model and not working. just my opinion

              and ala_borbe was fix it

                Re: Asus X42J bios dump

ok I'll try ala's file. If it doesn't work, I'll do a mild reflow on gpu. I already checked all voltage and values are good.

The owner mentioned that he was watching movie, then he moved laptop on a different location then suddenly it turned off. When I disassembled laptop I found dc jack broken, solder cracked from trace. I rebuild it then got the laptop to turn on. Thats why I'm considering the gpu as the least faulty one but not impossible. I'll update you asap guys. Thank you very much to all.

asus dc jack solder on motherboard often breaks.... i try to have 5-6 at hand at all times... often pad lifts, so you have to solder directly on coil or cap

Since the problem is no longer related to bios, I will close this thread and start a new one. Thanks for all the help!

ASUS ZenBook UX480F : need help with cleaning the ME region of my BIOS dump
                            by mkdj
                            Dear all,
I have a ASUS ZenBook UX480F with the following symptoms:

I suspect it is a BIOS issue. So I decided to try to clean the ME region. I followed the guide on win-raid, and I believe I have done everything correctly. My problem is: when I open the outimage.bin in ME Analyzer, it says that it is Extracted, and not Region, Extracted as it should be. Is it normal, or did I do something not correctly? This is my first experience editing BIOS files.

I would appreciate if someone could take time to explain the issue, so that I can learn. But I would...

With ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.

For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.

I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.

This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...

                            Hi,

I have a serious problem to program the Z590 chipset SRAM with a Management Engine after replacing the chipset.
The new chipset is factory new and is not containing any Management Engine. Any attempts to program it into the chipset under Windows ends with a failure (eg. Error 20: Management Engine Device not present, or something similar).
Due to the lack of the ME several ports on the board, including all M.2 ports aren't working, booting OS works only on USB. So it's now other way, as to program the chipset with a ME.

Usually on ASUS boards it worked...

Request HP Proliant Microserver Gen 8 (J06) BIOS dump to restore system firmware
                            by Ahari
                            Hi all,

This is my first post here (I am very new to forums!) and I hope someone can help. I am looking for a full dump of the BIOS of a HP Proliant Microserver Gen 8 so that I can get this mini server running again. (BIOS version J06 2019-04-04, chip 25Q064A). I think my board was partially bricked after a failed BIOS update.

I got it second hand in this state and all the normal attempts at bios restoration have not worked. I have even desoldered the chip and tried to load the actual BIOS from HP, but it is missing some parts needed to boot the system.

                            I...

                            by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                            Some issues
                            A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

                            Things I tried
