Re: Sony SVF15, turns on no video...BIOS issue??
install 7zip.
open the program, go to file and right click on the exe and select open inside.
then just go inside the director files and find the main bios file.
you will see it because even the program needs the raw biosJust cook it! It's already broken. -

Re: Sony SVF15, turns on no video...BIOS issue??
The files dll, exe, ini, sys, scr are what comprise the Windows program to update the BIOS, the ROM file is the actual BIOS file. The next thing is to find a DOS executable program to flash the ROM file to the BIOS using a DOS bootable disk.
Hang on though, let me back up and ask why you think this is a BIOS problem? What steps have you taken to troubleshoot the issue? Tried connecting an external monitor for example?Last edited by SteveNielsen; 04-28-2015, 01:24 PM.Comment

Sounds like it may be beyond the BIOS. Possibly a bad CPU chip or a bad chipset.ASRock B550 PG Velocita

by StephenHello, got a weird MacBook Air here
board looks fresh and no water damage, backlight works and turns on and stays on when installing OS etc. However, when the os is installed and when the system files are loaded before the login page the backlight goes out. I have wiped it, NVRAM reset, etc and even took some other instances and this blows my mind, never seen this before. Backlight just turns off once the OS is loaded. Anyone come across this and if so what would be the cause? I am certain its a board issue since I tested the LCD on another board and it stays on. Again the backlight works... -
by cajoegHello, I'm new to the group and to trying to repair a LCD TV. During the past few years, I've been collecting/repairing/restoring vintage personal computers (Commodore, Apple II, Atari, TRS-80, Texas Instruments, and Timex Sinclair). This has been my retirement hobby. Now I've gotten interested in trying to repair a LCD TV that I have and used regularly when working on vintage computers.
The LCD I'm working on is a Insignia NS-LCD019. I've downloaded the service manual that I could find, but it must be a different revision since not too many items in the service manual match the TV... -
by AkuankaHi everyone,
I'm troubleshooting a power supply issue with a Sony SLV-E780 VCR. The device clicks repeatedly but doesn't power up completely. I've already replaced five capacitors, but the problem persists.
Here's a video link https://photos.app.goo.gl/3Xki6yvCLn67gLX78 showcasing the sound. Based on your experience, could this be due to a transformer, diode, or another component? Any guidance on what to test or replace next would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help! -
