Do not remove the CMOS battery because the laptop will start right away when you plug in the power cable. The other battery must be disconnected.
So, before you try again be sure that the laptop does NOT start automatically when you plug in the power adapter.

I had exactly the same problem. The ribbon cable wasn't plugged in correctly. Please use a magnifying glass and flashlight to check that the pins are aligned correctly.

I used microscope to make it sure that the pins are aligned..(Pin 1 in KB and PIN 32 in the programmer) I don't know if my programmer is faulty, its brand-new i just received it a week ago.

I don't think the problem lies with the programmer. Maybe it has something to do with the "Gen 5."
If everything else was done correctly, I can't figure out where the error lies.

Hello everyone, (et surtout Max :P)

I try to remove the SVP from a Thinkpad L15 Gen 4 with a NPCX997. I extracted the locked EC file (in attachement) but do not manage to clear the password from it. Can someone help to clean the file or explain a bit more in details how to do it ? I tried to "zero-out" some part of it as shown in this topic before writting it, but without success.

                          Merci d'avance !

I think some of these programmers are faulty, I have gone thru the same issue like you. If you select Nuvoton and try to read it does not detect and if you try support for Svod you don't get any useful help. But the only way I was albe to read the NPCX997 but with ERROR 20 was to select motherboard and click read the same time you connect the charger

                                  Good day.
Can you give me the step by step process you took for it to work. It will be a great help. Im really having a hard time with this for a couple of days now. What specific motherboard did you select? The SVOD TEAM only told me that's it working as reported to them by other customers.

no, they are working. Error 20 appears when pins are not aligned or ribbon is faulty. I changed 32pins 0,5mm ribbon with 30pins 0,5mm from the svod kit because I had a lot of error 20 with 32pins ribbon after I used many times. You have to use a multimeter to check pins alignment microscope won't help. Check if you have last firmware and last software for SVOD4. Don't select any board, just select NUVOTON on Mode of programmer, 1,8V for Power and DISCONNECT trackpad, fingerprint, card reader, main battery, etc. Leave RTC batt. on. After plug in power adapter in motherboard check if power led is red then hit Read ID.
Few days ago I unlocked a L14 gen.3 and I had "Power up fault " error beside "Error20", check photos.

I tried almost every guide and suggestion here in this thread but i was not able to make it work. Maybe it has something to do with the laptop model i have (Lenovo thinkpad T14 Gen 5 -amd). I think i just will wait for new firmware and software update from SVOD.

try to use the right method. read id JUST BEFORE YOU insert ac adapter. unplug battery, read id again if it fails. it has to work
