Re: HP 840 G8 Bios Unlock
first thing you need to do is unlock the bios password.
in this block address from 00037000 to 00037930 use any hex editor fill with hex (ff)
then use this patched main it will auto recover DMI and unlock the absolute lock. it also works in no display/ late display no need Rebuild.
at first boot it will promt final step of bios update. be patient
no need to reset security defaults. it will promt controller error just enter and it will also promt identity mismatch but its okay just click enter and viola its done.Comment

Hello! The service installed the resistor I needed, which I accidentally removed. But unfortunately the laptop does not turn on with the original and unlocked BIOS. The diode on the Caps Lock button lights, and the diode on the charging port blinks white, power button doesn't turn on. I think the problem is with the BIOS, what can you advise?
Here are the original bios:Attached FilesComment

by abhorsenHey guys,
Hope you all are doing well. I come here from Win-Raid because I am having issues disabling Flash Protection Range Registers so I can flash my BIOS from within Windows using Intel's IFW tool/using flashrom within Linux, however I cannot due to the above mentioned error.
Here is my thread on Win-Raid detailing the whole process I went through: https://winraid.level1techs.com/t/re...h-gen/95478/27
Essentially I managed to boot into Windows while shorting PINs 1+5 of my audio chip to disable the HAP bit...-

by mrrubikHi folks,
I got a Dell Optiplex 7010 micro PC (Exact Model) with 8FC8 BIOS and locked out admin password. I attempted to remove the password by patching the BIOS via info from this thread: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...ssword-patcher
After flashing the patched the BIOS, the PC is unresponsive with a solid AMBER power LED (not documented in manual anywhere)
Steps I took:- Read BIOS with CH341a, verified hash twice
- Patched

by AkaBukaiHi there,
I have a 14" Lenovo Laptop (Flex 5 14ALC05) which has a boot issue.
The little LED on the power button is flashing slowly and nothing happen.
This unit do not have any BIOS button cell battery so I tried many times draining the power but it is still not powering on.
So I decided to flash the BIOS using a cheap programmer.
And I was successfully able to read the content (exactly 16MB file) which BTW is a WINBOND 74m12jwsiq (according to the package inscription - but detected as W25Q128FW in the software - IMSProg on Linux)
I also... -
by what_1282105Following this guide (https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/co...g_and_flashing) i re-flashed my t480s BIOS using an external (CH341A) programmer. The flash didnt work, so i reverted back to my BIOS backup successfully. The BIOS in the chip and the BIOS backup file are identical according to windows' file compare. The revert, however, didnt work: the only thing the computer does is flash the power button 3 times when AC power is connected. I've tried unplugging the CMOS battery, holding the reset button and holding down the power button- no signs of life....
