Having problems getting this laptop to power on with just the battery. I have swapped the charging chip BQ24760 out but it's exactly the same. Voltages in the picture are whilst plugged in to charger. Are they correct?

Re: Acer not working off battery
Many thanks for your response Techtiger. They both measured 2.7v and PU4002 has 19v on the other side. I swapped out PU4002 and it was showing 2.9v until I connected the battery then went back to 2.7v. Still shows 2.7v with battery connected and disconnected.
Is this going to be a case of swapping out PL4002 at the same time as PU4001 and PU4003?Comment

Did you try to replace the battery?OpenBoardView — https://github.com/OpenBoardView/OpenBoardViewComment

Re: Acer not working off battery
Does the laptop give you any LED indications for the battery status when plugged into charger? Solid/flashing battery LED? As Piernov suggested, try different battery as that 2.7V is way undervoltage for a 2s battery.Comment

Re: Acer not working off battery
Try measuring battery plugged out. Could be battery is dead. If you have no voltage, that means battery protection circuit is shut, because battery is discharged to the point of being dead.
That means, new battery.Comment

Re: Acer not working off battery
On some acers there`s a small micro switch that presses in when you fasten down the cpu/mem cover. With cover off the switch is up,the battery doesn`t charge.Comment

Re: Acer not working off battery
The pins of BQ24760 are a bit confusing. There are only 40 pins that I can see although the schematic says there are 43. I have taken the measurements of the numbers you've asked for where pin 1 = the white painted arrow on the board and the pin 42 you ask for I've given you pins 39 and 40.
2 = 0v
4 = 2.6v
5 = 0.1v
8 = 3.4v
11 = 2.8v
15 = 6v
22 = 2.8v
36 = 19v
39 = 3.3v
40 - 0.5vComment

Re: Acer not working off battery
It's 0.085v. Apparently the customer had sent this to Acer and they swapped out the battery but it still didn't work but now the original battery is back in there.Last edited by kalemaroni; 03-31-2019, 06:19 PM.Comment

Re: Acer not working off battery
The only battery I've managed to find is China and I'm waiting to hear back from the customer as to whether he wants me to order one.
What should the 2.7v be - 8.4v I'm assuming?Last edited by kalemaroni; 03-31-2019, 06:33 PM.Comment

Any idea what that switch looks like/where it is/what it's called on the schematic?Comment

Re: Acer not working off battery
try to charge battery with PSU, check thread called "battery charging with psu"
2,7V is way low. when u have good voltage on it even charging may start workComment

Re: Acer not working off battery
I tried the battery charging with PSU trick but it didn't draw any amps. I guess I need to figure out why I'm only getting 2.7v from the charger regardless. Any ideas?Comment

by Source CodeHello Everyone
First I must say I am trying to learn electronics. I have an Acer Nitro 5. Board is LA-861P. The laptop does not charge but when it has battery life it would power on and work fine. I have use a multimeter to check the charger and I get 19v.
Input on PBQ3 mosfet is 19v but no output or very low voltage. The voltage on PCZ65 and PCZ48 is 2v and it keep dropping after putting the charger for a few second. Battery pin would give like 0.200v declining.
If I put the laptop off for like 2-3 months it would start charging again but I need to do this... -
This was a no power initially. Thanks to your help, I discovered it was the first mosfet, so I replaced. Now, the device will power up only if the battery is NOT connected. As soon as I connect the battery, it shuts off. If I connected the battery while the device is off, it simply will not respond to the power button. I replaced the battery, and while I suppose the new battery could be faulty, I'm assuming it is not. I'm having the same behavior with the new battery. I measure .2v at the charging coil. Manually applying power to the + and - at the battery header, there is no charging happening....

by reformattLooking for some advice on a 820-02016 board as I don't have much experience with these M1 machines. Learning the nuances of them as I go.
So the history of this machine was it had been in a bag where a bottle of water leaked. Presented as dead about a month ago, corrosion was mainly around the battery connector and it's sub-PCB. Some corrosion was noted on the board around UC300, CC325, CW1C7, CW1C8. That was it really.
Now without battery connected, USB-C will stay at 5V and cycle between 0 and 120ma. PPBUS_AON is cycling between 0 to 12.3V. If battery is connected,... -
by mferna14Hi All, I am working on ACER Spin SP113-31-P6NZ ( board # Ironhide_APL 16835-1M) boots up well but does not work on main Battery & sometimes shits downs automatically. As soon as I unplug the Power adapter jack, Bang!!! it turns off. In Windows 10 it shows the battery is present & charging. I even checked the battery voltage by shorted BAT_G to GND & it shows 16 volts. Below I will share the voltages of the BQ24737 IC. What may be the problem & if anyone willing to share the Schematics, would be great. Thanks in advance.
These voltages are when the Battery is plugged... -
I bought a Vostro 3400 motherboard (LA-K033P) to upgrade over my damaged Inspiron 5593 (LA-J091P) board. Everything else is ok except for the battery. This battery I am using now is already a replacement one since I disposed of the bloated original one. Back in the Inspiron 5593 motherboard, the battery charges fine and is identified just fine. However, with the upgraded motherboard, suddenly the replacement battery is labeled as "Not a dell battery". When I borrow a similar battery from my colleague (which did not have replacements yet), it is identified and charges just fine.
