Identifying a Power Switch and Function

Hi Guys, I'm looking to get a Lenovo IdeaCentre A310 back up and running which has got problems with the power switch. It's a 6 pin switch which I am unfamiliar with. Only ever seen 2 pin ones and 4 pins ones before.

So I assume with this switch two pins will be for LED, Power Switch, Reset switch?

What I plan to do is short two of the pins with a bit of cable to see if I can get the board to jump start.

I am assuming the 2 central pins running through the yellow bit are for the LED?

Which ones will be for the power switch and does anyone know where to find a replacement?

I suppose you could test how the switch operates by putting your meter in ohms across the joints ( without the power on) If the switch works.

Switch is dead, the clicky bit has disintegrated.

I was hoping I could just replace with a simpler on / off switch, perhaps with reset. LED/Reset are not exactly crucial.

I cant tell - is it a slide switch or a press down switch - wouldnt have thought you could
have two operations on a press switch is it not just an off/on with a led?

          Press down

Perhaps it is just on/off and led, I was just guessing there was perhaps a reset function due to number of pins.

SW1 and Triangle pins / positive?

            or

triangle pin and opposite (L3) pin / positive?

jump across the top pair of pins.
it's just a 4pin push switch with an led inlaid over the button.

It looks like momentary switch with LED. The typical set up is the top right pin with an arrow is internally connected to the bottom right pin, the top left is also internally connected to the bottom left pin. When the button is push, the electrical contact will be made between the top/bottom left side terminals to the right top/bottom right side terminals.

Cheers so to jump I need to make contact with SW1 pin and the Triangle pin

Do you know of any momentary switch with a LED I could use?

If not a normal 4 pin momentary switch will suffice.

Wow thanks, spent a good few hours yesterday trying to find something similar to no avail.

Only difference being the one on the board is a SMD

Wish I had discovered this forum earlier!

                          And it lives!!

Thanks guys, as above were the correct pins to jump, thanks. Have been waiting on the PSU which was delivered today, so tried the jump and booted up fine.

Going to go with the non SMD variant as can pick up from local farnels for £0.50p and just cut and bend the pins back. Will that be ok?

Cuople of other things I need to work on as well which I will report on once I have placed the new switch (cracked PCB for Bluetooth button only, just a single trace)

I would have thought so if you can get them to the same position as the pads

Was/is the old one glued to te board for stability

No had like plastic locating pin underneath

I think I found something similar that is surface mounted from farnells. What you think, will it do

Personally I would try the 50p one (tight - born in Yorkshire!!) have you looked at the data sheets for the placing of the pins.on both and does the height matter. Also is it just a low voltage switch - not mains.

Feeeew I nearly went and ****** it up!

I should have pointed out this was my first time working on a board and properly with a soldering iron, have done a little soldering before just joining wires etc. Have got a desoldering gun which is brilliant for through hole stuff but this was a surface mounted switch.

So what did the noob do

Along with melting some plastic bits he pulled a pad up!!!

But thank god it seems it wasn't crucial to the switch working, and here my finished job

Yay, well the LED doesn't work, perhaps its linked to the pad I ripped up but the switch, on/off does work perfectly YAAAY

Might pop some glue around the switch to make sure it is sturdy?

I could of gotten my brother in law to do it but where's the fun in that feels so good knowing you have brought back something to life

Hi Everyone. First official post so fingers crossed I conform and also manage to get photos to work.

So I am requesting some help from anyone who happens to have one of these motherboards to hand and perhaps a multimeter.

My board has a single row of header pins for all the front panel stuff (have seen others where they are grouped together differently so thats no help) and the two pins for the power on switch had been previously repaired and I am trying to make a better repair. There looks to be pad and trace damage and im happy to relocate the header pin/pins to...

PS5 Edm-010 No Power - Help identifying missing capacitor
                                          by krob80
Hey everyone. I recently acquired a PS5 that is not turning on (no beep/power). PSU is good and there is no shorting on the 12V rail.
It came with a Gen3 SSD installed so I feel that things went down hill for the previous owner when it was installed. F7003 was blown but there was nothing shorting to ground. I replaced the fuse but still no power (new fuse is still good for now).
When connecting it to a bench power supply, it only pulls 10 mA (doesn't spike when first connected).
I noticed that there are a couple capacitors missing from the Vcore power regulator (pictures attached)....

I have an LTL Acorn 5210A trail camera and the power switch needs replacing, there is only one site I found that sell them but they want 12 pounds each I'm in Australia so thats $24 but I see these switches are in all sorts of devices everywhere so I'm hoping to find a cheaper one, I dont know what the pinout is for these switches but I have taken apart the camera down to just the board and removed the switch and hooked up a battery pack (4x AA batteries) to see what the voltages are at the traces where the switch was. In the picture of just the switch it is currently in the off position, it moves...
