Why are there two inputs mosfets?
Just trying to fix this old Alienware m14x laptop.
found a shorted capacitor and a shorted mosfet on the input mosfet pair.
im i newish to this and was wondering why you almost always have a pair of identical mosfets on in the input? They both do the same thing so what the point?
also on a side note i am eager to test laptop since no short now, is there a way to bypass the 2nd mosfet for a temporary solution until replacement arrives?...

Managed to do it and is detecting ssd now.
i left out R3742 as didn't seem to be doing anything? Just ran a jumper from broken trace straight to R3741.
R3742 just seems like it’s connected to ground?
I don’t want to keep fucking with it as those components are microscopic. So if I can do without R3742 would be ideal but not sure if needed?...

820-00138-A - Advice on how to fix corroded missing / pads
Working on this a MacBook i purchased, has some corrosion around what according to the schematic is SSD CURRENT SENSE circuit. I've got 3 missing pads
The pad left side of R3742, where would be best to run a jumper wire too?
I assume the other 2 missing pads should be simple enough with top C3701 pad which appears to be connected to the other components on the same plane. Pad on right side of R3742 just need to make sure is connected to trace.
Mainly struggling with left pad of R3742 and where to run a jumper, maybe a via as appears to go to multiple...3 PhotosLast edited by SMDFlea; 12-21-2023, 02:47 AM.

Re: SDLFNCAR-960G-1HA2 SanDisk SSD Passwords
Doesn’t let me unmount just gives error. I’ll try installing Linux fully onto ssd and try again.

Re: SDLFNCAR-960G-1HA2 SanDisk SSD Passwords
Does using Linux off a live usb make a difference to the procedure?
I’ve read a few times the target drive needs to be unmounted?

Re: SDLFNCAR-960G-1HA2 SanDisk SSD Passwords
no luck using a T450, same issue password screen.
Tried hot swapping with another HDD but would fail when it realised is a different drive.
Tried Linux hdparm (never used linux before)
could read the drive and its status, which is locked, not frozen and supports secure erase.
Keep getting GD I/O errors. Tried loads of different commands and variations but no luck.
Tried Victoria HDD software, which showed security as locked, max.
So frustrating

Re: SDLFNCAR-960G-1HA2 SanDisk SSD Passwords

Re: SDLFNCAR-960G-1HA2 SanDisk SSD Passwords
Have been able to boot connected as a second drive via sata to my PC but drive isnt showing up in bios, windows etc unlike laptop which would just go straight to password.
tried sandisk dashboard which isnt picking up drive at all via sata. is seing something via USB but no options available and no model number.
tried AOMEI which is picking up drive and lets me get to the stage of secure erasing but then says your drive is protected by a password before prompting me to enter it.
Not getting anywhere...

SDLFNCAR-960G-1HA2 SanDisk SSD Passwords
Ive got a bunch of these SDLFNCAR-960G-1HA2 ssds which unfortunately seemed to be password locked. Cant format or do anything with them.
When connected to PC via a usb adapter is detected but not initialised and cant to anything with it.
When connected to a laptop via sata just comes up with a HDD
password screen, with the option to go to a master password screen.
Cant enter bios as goes straight to password screen.
Can anything be done with these?Last edited by mikay786; 07-03-2023, 08:04 AM.

Re: Toshiba VCR / DVD blown diode?
Cheers so originally both would have been SB390?...

Toshiba VCR / DVD blown diode?
I've got a shorted SB390 diode which was in parallel with UF5408 diode.
d1031 = uf5408
d1035 = sb390
service manual pages 1-14-25 & 1-14-26
Ive found a equivalent for the SB390 in the SB3H90
what i wanted to know is it likely that the UF5408 has already been replaced?
As in originally both diodes would have been SB390s
So if i were to replace the pair could i replace both with SB3H90?...
