    Macbook Pro 13" A1706

I have one strange issue with Macbook Pro 13" A1706 (touch bar) 4 TB ports
Issue is that all 4 ports are working but on one port only one side (when i rotate connector 180 degree there is nothing (ampmeter is not turned on at all) and charger (original apple) is put to protective mode, I have to unplug USB from the power brick to enable it again.

I've tried multiple USB-C ports (one one side all ports all sides work when i reconnect it to other side both ports work but one only on one side)

There is no issue problem on the board (no liquid damage, no damaged component), connector is in great condition

I've also tried to check with thermal camera but nothing lights up ....

Remove all power. Meter in DIODE mode. Red meter probe to ground. Black meter probe to point to test. Take the measurements of the bad side USB Type C connector and compare the diode mode measurements with a known good connector. It is possible that the ESD TVS diodes are damaged for that side of the USB Type C connector blade.

If the USB-C port is not rotten, then I think it’s time to change the SD3215 port that doesn’t work

See a lot of red there in the test results. We recently purchased this tool and it arrived late yesterday. Will test it against some units in the building but suggest that you do the same. Insert this tool into a known good Type C based macbook to compare the results.

MacBook Pro 13inch 2017mid (A1706 820-00923-A) - liquid damage - USBC and Display short circuit
                by rilley
                Hello everyone,
I am new into this, sorry to post it here. I want to make this as a pet hobby project, as this mac is not urgent.

                I have (Macbook Pro 13inch 2017mid) A1706 820-00923-A

My mac had liquid damage a long time ago, the connector from J8500 is damaged on pin 46 (PP5V_S0_ALSCAM_F), I guess the LCD/display panel is in short circuit, as I saw the connector from the LCD burned as well.

And the resistor L4004 is literally burned.

From what I see from the schematics, it does not affect any other rails, only the connection to the display...

                Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

                A1706 - Macbook pro - one USB-C port only 20V 0A
                by obelix24
I just got in my hands one Macbook pro A1706. It was originally not turning on (only 5V 0,2a on all ports (and 3 ports were restarting ampmeter when connected)

I've replaced one CD3215C00 IC and now macbook is fully working (20V and charging fine)

There is only 1 issue that one USB-C port is taking 20V but 0A (after replacing CD3215 it was fully working and i was charging macbook on this port) but then it just turns off (ampmeter) and started with only 20V 0A.

There were some broken pads under CD3215 but i've recreated them.

                What should be...
