Thanks Mon! Searching for repacement was my next step, if I couldnt salvage something from the bone pile.
This is another board that matches part #, but looks like they changed the inductor type in fabrication...

Blown Inductor on WD My Passport
Hi Guys, my WD My Passport drive powers on, then powers off. Ive taken out the motherboard and identified a blown Inductor. Im trying to recover my data only
Reading between leads show nothing. If I removed this Inductor, what would be a suitable replacement? am I correct that its a ferrite Inductor is to just filter noise?
Ive seen people just bridge them, any harm in replacing it with a differnt value Inductor?
Lastly am I correct in thinking there is no polarity on the smd component?
Thanks!...

Lightform LFC mini PC,Blown Component - Need help identifying or Next Steps
Hi gang, I have 2 of these Lightform LFC mini PC's, and both suffered a blown component near the 12V power input. Im assuming its a voltage regulator,
But Im unable to identify the component or its marking. (The best I can make out is M48i)
Can anyone help me clarify what this component maybe? or what would be the next troubleshooting or logical step to try next? Schematic is unavailable
I removed the IC for better clarity of traces...5 PhotosLast edited by SMDFlea; 12-29-2023, 12:13 PM.

Determining dead CPU, Help with Voltage Injection
Hi Gang, I am trying to repair an Asus laptop motherboard with my basic knowledge. Laptop will not power on. I detected a short on the drain of 2nd Mosfet DC charging circuit and the current sense resistor.
I followed the power rail to the CPU/GPU. All inductors and nearby capacitors showing .02-.09 resistance/short.
I applied 2v, 3a to the current sense resistor and the only hotspot on thermal cam was the CPU .
Does this mean the CPU is dead? or am I missing a troubleshooting step?
any help would be appreciated!!...

Re: Laptop Bad MOSFET?
Thanks for the explanation. that makes sense. I wasnt able to find any online , digikey states its no longer manufactured, and the substitutes are lowerer amps 140ish
Is there any place else you can recommend I look? thanks a bunch!

Acer Predator Helios 300 Laptop Bad MOSFET?
Hi Guys I have a laptop Acer Predator Helios 300, it had liquid spill, the laptop works, but does not charge battery.
Ive identified DC IN MOSFET has a short between Drain/Source. The Mosfet is BA8Y12 6406 (30v, Id=170 amps).
Can i replace this with a similar mosfet 6414A (30v Id=30amps)?
is that amp rating important in terms of variations?
thanks

Re: HELP Identifying a MOSFET L3 GUD
Thanks Guys! I was able to replace the 2nd power mosfet that was shorted from a donor board and all is good now!
Cheers!

HELP Identifying a MOSFET L3 GUD
Hi Gang, Im working on an Acer Aspire 5, that wasnt charging or randomly not powering on. I identifyed a shorted MOSFET and removed it. Laptop now powers on with the Missing MOSFET.
Im having a devil of a time finding a replacement. the value of mosfet reads L3 GUD 4U0T01. I cannot find anything on this online
Is there a subsitute I can use? can I grab a similar sized one from a donor board of another brand?
Thanks!
