For infrared, low-cost will not get you anything good.
I have the cheapest one (T-862++) from Puhuit and it sucks. You have to burn many chips before you get it right. The infrared beam pulsates which creates a dramatic drop in temperature everytime.
In my experience, it's better to get a non-pulsating machine. But you're looking at $1000+

ACHI IR Pro SC. It's dark IR and the newer versions aren't plagued by uneven heat. Like the previous poster noted, this will put you back about $1300. The other option is maybe the T870A (the unit I previously used) but its hit or miss. You have to play around with it a lot to get the feel of how to use it.
