Re: Laptop Upgrades revisited
Why would you buy a laptop from Best Buy lol?
What, you're going to get geek squad support too?

Re: Laptop Upgrades revisited
Samsung Laptops are the Master Race!
Build quality is the most superb of any laptop I've yet to disassemble (I'm a tech who's disassembled at least 3,000+ laptops so far). Can't go wrong with any of them.
I'd steer away from most of today's HPs and Dells.
Also, IBMs T series have a 14" screen with a 1600 x 900 resolution, just saying...Re: Laptop Upgrades revisited

Re: Ratdude's Main rig V3.5
Report your license and card asap
You ever actually tried to bypass Windoze activation?? Or are you really optimistic they're gonna come out with more support for your machine in the future???

Re: Testing a BGA - Good or Bad?
sometimes the chip is just bad, even after successful reball or reflow.
but they do sell the chips with leaded solder balls on them on eBay

Re: Heat guns near BGA packages
7cm is pretty far.
As long as you don't move the board while applying heat that much, the bridge will be fine...
use good flux tho, like amtec to smooth the process.

Re: Ratdude's Main rig V3.5
Wait, mine is DDR2 PC2-3200 (IBM)
There's 2 2GB sticks, for a total of 4GBs.
Your machine uses ancient DDR, no?

Re: Ratdude's Main rig V3.5
I have a couple of ECC modules, I can send them to you if you want since I'm pretty sure I'm not making much of use of them.
I *think* have them around somewhere, they're 2gb sticks, I think....

Re: Ratdude's Main rig V3.5
You're probably running an outdated bios if that much ram isn't supported, if at all.
Or check the configurations.

Re: Testing a BGA - Good or Bad?
Impossible.
Only way to know is to first do a reflow.
Aside from plugging laptop into external monitor first after checking other components such as CPU and RAM since they give almost the same symptoms as a bad GPU.Last edited by thesloc; 07-26-2013, 04:02 PM.
